Green Bench announces five collaboration beers

Saint Petersburg- Green Bench Brewing Company has the Florida craft beer community waiting anxiously for an announcement on when exactly their opening day will arrive. Until that announcement comes, brewer Khris Johnson has released some preliminary details of his marathon five collaboration beers to be poured on Green Bench’s opening day.

Johnson has been making the rounds at five different Central Florida craft breweries in a show of friendship and community, as well as the labor of beermaking. Green Bench’s opening day collaboration beers will be:

7venth Sun Collaboration: Florida (Berliner) weisse.

Cask and Larder Collaboration: Sessionable, yet intense white IPA.

Cigar City Collaboration: Specialty brown ale with lactose and peppercorn.

Saint Somewhere Collaboration: low-alcohol, hop-assertive farmhouse ale with two strains of brettanomyces.

Tampa Bay Brewing Company Collaboration: Smoked black IPA.

More details are sure to follow, including the hopeful announcement of Green Bench’s opening day.

About Green Bench Brewing Company: Green Bench will open its doors as part of Florida’s class of 2013. They began construction in March of 2013, and plan to open in the fall of the same year. Named for Saint Petersburg’s famed green benches that used to be landmarks in all over the city during the turn of the 20th Century. The brewery is planning a beer garden and tasting room in downtown Saint Petersburg near Tropicana Field at 1133 Baum Avenue North. No word yet on Green Bench’s core beers, but they hope to set up a sour program and a unique line of Belgian beers.
