Tampa’s Cigar City are definitely lager lovers. How much do these lager lovers love lager? So much that they have devoted the entire month of June to any lager in the tasting room.

We here at CCB may be known primarily for big stouts and hoppy beers, but we have always loved more traditional lagers and other German styles. Our Munich-style Helles (Hotter Than Helles) is one of our core beers and a favorite around the brewery. We’re also going to be canning our Oktoberfest for the first time this year in a few months.

Right now in the tasting room, we actually have 4 awesome German-style beers on tap:

Hotter Than Helles Munich Lager
– Traditional Munich-style Helles lager. “Helles” in German means “Light.”

Dortmunder Pale Lager
– One of the lighter and more easily quaffable beers we’ve ever brewed. A tad darker than a traditional Dortmunder Export but still delicious.

Torcedores Series: Founder Fred’s Maibock
– Brewer Fred Thibodeaux penned the recipe for this traditional Bavarian Spring seasonal. Stronger in alcohol, heartier and darker in color.

Torcedores Series: Matt’s Mumme Sticke Ale
– Brewer Matt Tucker threw a curveball by brewing a mumme, a nearly forgotten style once popular in Germany back in the 16th century. This style ultimately turned into the Altbier. Matt feels this beer toes the line of a mumme and altbier, so we’re calling it both of ‘em.

In honor of lagers and other German styles, we are pleased to announce: Junetoberfest!

Starting on Monday, June 2nd, we’ll be selling these fantastic 20oz dimpled mugs in our tasting room. They’re $10, and with that not only do you get to keep the glass, but you can bring it back anytime throughout the month of June to fill with any of the above German beers or ANY other lager on tap for only $4! That’s 20 ounces of traditional German beer for less than a pint of anything else in the tasting room. These glasses are limited so try and stop by as early as you can next week to get one.

Also, all four beers are available for growlers to go!
