Press Release: Saltwater Brewery, a Florida-based microbrewery known for the Edible Six Pack Rings, announced an extension to their brewing team with the hiring of Justin Rick, previous Senior Brewer at Brooklyn Brewery.
As a testament to the monumental growth of craft beer across the globe, the Great American Beer Festival continues to grow and invite more breweries from across the United States. That means more amazing beers submitted for the judging at the festival competition, one of the most prestigious and competitive in the world. That also means that Florida’s craft breweries are facing stiffer competition from breweries both new and old. This is not a knock against Florida’s breweries, as some of the best beer in the world is crafted in the Sunshine State, just an acknowledgement of the level of competition that everyone is working with.
Sponsored Post- Our friends over at Sip the Sunshine Festival have been very busy these last few weeks. In addition to putting together a truly outstanding lineup of beers, the festival organizers have created a musical showcase for the ages.
From Sip the Sunshine:
To top off the day, we will have a musical lineup unlike any other. Jah Movement reggae band will kick off the day, followed by Have Gun, Will Travel and the Heavy Pets. The evening will end with our event headliner, the one and only Grammy award-winning band Blues Traveler. If there is one thing we know for sure, this will be a day to remember!
And about the beers:
Lots going on in the Wynwood area of Miami recently – several breweries garnering attention for beers and releases. This morning’s update comes from Concrete Beach Brewery about a few beers being released this week and a new canned beer on the horizon.
J. Wakefield Brewing made news in the local newspapers when their beer made it on tap at Hard Rock Stadium (formerly Joe Robbie Stadium – where the Miami Dolphins play), and now the Miami craft brewery has given some details of their upcoming bottle release.
Saltwater Brewery of Delray Beach has been receiving a lot of press for the edible sixpack rings they are rolling out. Saltwater’s year-round offerings have been anchored by Screamin’ Reels IPA and Sea Cow Milk Stout, but soon there will be a third ale in the core offerings, making this a trinity: LocAle Session Ale. Clocking in at 4.7% alcohol, LocAle is a lighter ale and will pair well with the hot outdoor Florida season.
Orchid Island Brewery of Vero Beach has a lot to celebrate as their second birthday approaches. Their Star Ruby was listed as classic Florida IPA to try for IPA Day. Their brilliant Grove-to-Glass concept has evolved into an expanded brewery and a numerous citrus-infused beers that illustrate the unique citrus industry of Florida’s east coast. While they could rest on their laurels, Orchid Island Brewery will celebrate their upcoming milestone by releasing Spectrum Triple IPA.
