Houston, Texas- Saint Arnold Brewing Company, the 46th largest brewery in the United States is currently looking to expand distribution into Florida, and plans to be on shelves mid-October.
According to an interview with the Houston Chronicle, Brock Wagner, founder of Saint Arnold, says that Saint Arnold has had its eye on Florida because of the large number of tourists that make sojourns between the shores.
“[Wagner] acknowledged in an interview that populous Florida and craft-crazy Colorado attract tourists from around the country and the moves should help build a national identity that Saint Arnold lacks despite 19 years in business and a sustained growth spurt that has vaulted it into the ranks of the nation’s 50 largest craft breweries.”
Saint Arnold is looking to build brand identity as it moves into the Florida and Colorado markets, and like Founders Brewing Company, they are coming off of a large expansion. Saint Arnold is now on pace to brew 60,000 barrels of beer in 2013, making expansion possible. Wagner says that the Texas brewery could possibly brew 250,000 barrels within a few years.
No word yet on how many areas of Florida will receive Saint Arnold or distributor choices yet; an email was sent to the brewery asking for comment. Unfortunately for Miami, Saint Arnold’s owner says: “The timing now seems right to move into the state, though not into South Florida, a market Wagner admitted he does not understand.”
