Coppertail Brewing’s chief operating officer, Ken Foutch, recently made an appearance on the Fermented Reality Podcast and dropped an announcement on the hosts, namely that the Ybor City brewery will be the official craft beer of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers franchise for the next five years. This information was confirmed on Sunday, August 15th with a post from Coppertail celebrating National Creamsicle Day.
The deal, which Foutch and the Coppertail staff have been working on for the last several years, gives Coppertail:
- The Swash Buckler Bar in the stadium will become the Coppertail Bar and the brewery will have most of the taps available in the bar.
- Coppertail will have kiosks throughout Raymond James Stadium serving their beer.
- Coppertail will have brand rights for the Buccaneers and be able to use the team’s branding, including the current logo and colors, the phrase “World Champions,” and Bucco Bruce as a potential throwback.
- Coppertail will launch Florida Special lager in special, limited-edition cans with Tampa Bay Buccaneers throwback colors.
- Coppertail will host a charity event where winners and/or donors will be able to brew a beer with a member of the Buccaneers organization.
No word yet if Coppertail founder Kent Bailey will be allowed to wear Captain Fear’s costume on the field. Details of negotiation were kept under wraps.
Congratulations to the Coppertail team on this achievement!
About Coppertail Brewing
Coppertail Brewing Co is an independently owned production brewery and tasting room in the historic Ybor neighborhood of Tampa, FL. It was founded on the desire to bring more quality, Florida-brewed beer to the thirsty masses. Florida Inspired. Tampa Brewed.
Coppertail Brewing is named for a sea monster that lives in Tampa Bay. I know this because my 5-year-old daughter told me about it. Somehow, though, it seems like the perfect name for this brewery. Coppertail is the strange and fantastic that lurks beneath Tampa Bay. Coppertail is dreaming of the impossible. Kind of like the craft brewing industry going up against the giant mega-brewers. Or like a homebrewer putting everything on the line to start a brewery. We believe in Coppertail.
