St. Pete Brewing breaks ground on tasting room expansion

St. Petersburg Brewing Company has been one of the staples of the St. Petersburg brewing landscape almost since there were craft breweries in the Sunshine City – all the way back to 2014.

Pardon Our Dust sign from St. Pete BrewingThe small brewery began as a contract brewer to get their brand introduced to the people of the Tampa Bay Area, then quickly opened a brick and mortar location on First Street in St. Petersburg. Now, owner Tom Williams and his crew have broken ground to expand the footprint of the brewery’s tasting room after neighboring business Beans and Barlour moved onto Central Avenue.

From St. Pete Rising Magazine:

The new addition will increase the size of the tasting room by 1,500 square feet, thereby doubling the seating capacity. And when the expansion isn’t being used for events, it’ll be open to the public.

“I want the expansion to be a different experience,” said Williams. “Although specific design elements are still being decided, I think it’ll be more of a lounge atmosphere. Right now, everything in the brewery is metal, so the new lounge area will be much more comfortable.”

The new space will connect to the existing tasting room through an open passageway located near the entrance. A mural that local artist Alyssa Marie completed last year on the tasting room’s wall will be staying.

Buildout has already begun and is expected to be finished and open to the public in November of 2021. St. Pete Brewing’s tasting room will continue to operate while the expansion is in progress.
