Talking beer and chocolate pairings with David Nilsen on the latest episode of BeerWise Podcast

The latest guest on the BeerWise Podcast is David Nilsen, a beer writer and educator, the author of Pairing Beer and Chocolate, and the creative mind behind the Bean to Barstool website and podcast.

When I read Pairing Beer & Chocolate, I knew I wanted to talk to the author, David Nilsen. The book forced me to examine the world of pairing food and beer and opened my mind to possibilities beyond stouts and porters with this unique food item. Surprisingly little has been written on this topic, and David has raised the bar with his book, website, and podcast, both called Bean to Barstool.

David discusses his interest in beer and chocolate, how writing about beer and chocolate has evolved for him, and the future of Bean to Barstool. What I thought would be a conversation about pairing food items with beer quickly shifted into a discussion about how working with items other than beer can help one appreciate and apply beer knowledge.

About Bean to Barstool
Bean to Barstool is about a deeper experience of tasting craft beer & bean to bar chocolate, and what that experience can tell us about ourselves.

Bean to Barstool is run by David Nilsen, an Advanced Cicerone® & award-winning beer writer. He lives in Ohio with his wife, daughter, & very irritable cat.

My thanks to David for taking the time to talk to me and sharing his thoughts and a few pairings.
