Atlanta, GA- The 2013 U.S. Open Beer Championship allowed entries of 2500 beers in 68 different style categories, and Florida’s craft breweries showed that Florida should be known for more than sunshine.
While it is not uncommon for one or two noticeable Florida entries taking home medals from the U.S. Open Beer Championship, 2013 showed seven Florida medals in the overall results.
2013 saw these Florida breweries take home medals:
*Florida Beer Company won a gold medal for Florida Lager & a silver medal for Hurricane Reef Carribean Pilsner.
*Proof Brewing Company won a silver medal for Macho Pale Ale.
*Orlando Brewing won a bronze medal for Doble Imperial IPA.
*Brewzzi Restaurant and Brewery won a silver medal for Passion Fruit Saison.
*Cigar City Brewing won a bronze medal for Marshal Zhukov’s Imperial Stout & a gold medal for Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout. Cigar City was also awarded a Judges’ Award for a creative beer name- Hotter Than Helles Lager.
