Cigar City Brewing posted what has to be the largest collaboration beer of craft brewers at the same time. While much of the craft beer world was preparing to enjoy Hunahpu Day, the brewers that came by to join in the festivities all got to the brewery early and worked in (somewhat) secret on a mega-collaboration beer.
From Cigar City Brewing:
We invited every single brewery that joined us on Hunahpu’s Day to work on a collaboration with us. 60 breweries said yes. For months we exchanged emails and hashed out ideas for different recipes. Ultimately we all decided on a Double IPA brewed with citrus and a blend of two different yeast strains.
The fun part? We mashed in on Hunahpu’s Day at 6:00am and asked someone from each brewery to help brew the beer with us. The beer was being brewed in our 15bbl brewhouse while the festivities were going on!
Bad news: Bottles will not be sold to the public.
However, there is a silver lining here: “we will be tapping it in the tasting room soon! Stay tuned to the taplist on our website to see when it’s tapped.”
It was no secret that Cigar City collaborates quite a bit, but this is the quite a large gathering at the same time.
