The newest episode of the BeerWise Podcast is up – another episode from our recent trip to Flagstaff, Arizona.
This episode I am joined by Kelly Hanseth of Lumberyard Brewing Company and Beaver Street Brewery in Flagstaff, Arizona. Kelly’s parents, Winnie and Evan Hanseth opened Beaver Street Brewery, Flagstaff’s first craft brewpub, in 1994. Kelly was a young girl when the brewery opened and has grown up with the brewery as her family’s business. When the city of Flagstaff was looking for ideas on what to do with their historic lumberyard, the Hanseth Family pitched the idea of turning the facility into a production brewery and restaurant. Lumberyard Brewing Company opened its doors in 2010, after the family remodeled and converted the facility.
Kelly is now the Marketing Manager for both breweries and the Vice President of the Arizona Craft Brewers Guild.
We discuss growing up with a brewery in the family, marketing two breweries, converting a lumberyard into a production brewery, and more.

With little space, small capacity, and high demand for Beaver Street Brewery’s beer, owners Winnie and Evan Hanseth looked for an opportunity elsewhere to brew more beer and start distribution throughout Arizona.
Beaver Street Brewery’s original brew house is still active today supporting Beaver Street Brewery with their flagship beers and seasonals to those that are visiting Flagstaff’s first brewpub.
