Florida Beer News has a new logo now showing on the website and all social media channels. This change was not random or part of a rebranding, but instead part of a collaboration with an artist and friend of the website.
What’s with the new Fl0rida Beer News logo?
We are trying a series of new concepts here at Florida Beer News, and the first one is an artist collaboration. For our first artist collaboration, it was only natural to collaborate with Geiger Powell, the label artist behind some of Cigar City Brewing’s designs as well as Magnanimous Brewing’s label designs. Geiger has been a friend to Florida Beer News since the beginning of the website in 2013, so he was our first choice to seek out for this collaboration.
What are the elements of the new logo?
When seeking out a temporary new logo for the website, we asked Geiger to design a logo that evoked the spirit of Florida and the current beer scene in the state. The dominant image is a sunrise spreading light through the rest of the circular image, similar to the label on a keg of beer, and palm trees which are synonymous with the Sunshine State. The sun is also present over the water, but without distinctive features – the water could be the St. John’s River, Lake Okeechobee, Tampa Bay, Blue Springs, or any body of water the sun touches in the 1,350 miles of Florida coastline. Finally, the sun has staves in it, associating the light itself with the state’s craft beer and breweries.
How long will the new logo be around?
The current plan is to keep the new logo until the new year arrives and then return the previous logo back to the website. In the future, the plan is for this collaboration to happen with a different artist each year to showcase the immense well of talent of Florida artists to Florida’s beer lovers everywhere.
Please let us know what you think of the new logo either via the Contact Us page on the website or by sending an email to mark at Florida Beer News dot com.
