Press Release: Cigar City Brewing is proud to announce Florida Man Double IPA is the official craft beer sponsor of the 2023 USA Mullet Championship – the ultimate showdown for the most epic mullet in the nation.
As the official craft beer of the USA Mullet Championship, Florida Man will sponsor the mane event: the Men’s Top 25 contest which will kick off live voting this fall. Florida Man will simultaneously capture votes wherever Florida Man DIPA is sold, launch a limited-edition starter pack for beer-soaked mullet grooming, and blast social media @CigarCityBrewing to help celebrate the best mullets across the nation.

Florida Man responded, “Cool, I’ll crack one open and vote for the best mullet. We’ll see who can live up to the Florida Man name!”
Inspired by Cigar City Brewing’s home state, Florida Man is a big ol’ Double India Pale Ale brewed with a nearly criminal amount of hops and a moderate bitterness. Whether caught in the middle of the 5 o’clock news or stunting in a viral video, there is undoubtedly a wild side of Florida Man within all of us. Studies show he’s also more likely than most to have a mullet.
The business-in-the-front, party-in-the-back hairstyle that consistently sweeps the streets was popularized by actors and rock stars in the 1980’s. The Mullet began experiencing a comeback in 2020 as Americans turned to a more home-brewed haircuts while salons and barbershops were closed for multiple months.
Begola also told Cigar City, “I started the Mullet contests as a fun idea to cut through all the craziness happening around us and to encourage people to relax. What started as a way to bring people together during the Covid lockdown has grown into so much more, and I am happy with how much fun we are having!”
