Coppertail Brewing making progress toward opening day

Coppertail Brewing Company in the Ybor City area has been generating buzz since they have poured at several festivals earlier in 2013. The brewery has recently posted some new information to their blog highlighting some key items in their history and development:

*First, Coppertail and staff are pushing hard towards opening in March of 2014.
*Second, the brewery has its federal brewer’s permit (a key step in becoming a legitimate brewery).
*Coppertail has received their wet-zoning from the Tampa City Council. This is no easy feat and nothing is a sure thing when going before the Tampa City Council, but this step ensures that the brewery can have a tasting room and pour their beers on site.
*Construction permits and the speed of the permitting process have made the idea of a March opening a stretch for Coppertail, but the tone of the post is optimistic:

“For a couple weeks we’ve been told we should be getting the permits any day now. We need to get started on that work immediately if we’re going to stay on schedule for a March opening. The people at the city have been kind and are working with us, but I just hadn’t realized how slow this process moves. Cross your fingers that we’ll get those permits in hand soon, or we won’t have anywhere to put all our brewing equipment when it arrives in late December.”

*Finally, the brewhouse fabricator in Germany has told Coppertail that the brewing equipment is almost finished, and they are flying overseas to see the equipment firsthand. The equipment is expected to arrive in late December.
