Cycle CTC Weller

St. Petersburg’s first craft brewery, Cycle Brewing, is wasting no time in getting their first barrel-aged beer out into their drinkers’ hands. Right on the heels of their last release, CTC Blanton’s – a barleywine aged for three years in Blanton’s bourbon barrels, now comes a new barleywine aged in different barrels. This new sounds like a battle of the barrels will ensue any minute now – music to a barleywine lover’s ears.

From Cycle Brewing:

FIRST BOTTLE RELEASE OF 2025

We’re adding to our CTC collection with CTC Weller.

This barleywine was aged for a little over 3 years in Weller Bourbon barrels. Expect those delicious honey, vanilla, light fruit, and char flavor from these special barrels. The barrels are the star in this barleywine.

Our last CTC release was in Blanton’s barrels, and we still have some bottles available. Doug says “it is definitely different than the Blanton’s barrels, nice example of how different barrels can carry different flavor profiles.”

You asked what Weller barrels these were in, and here’s your answer.

This barrel aged CTC barleywine spent 3 years soaking up all the flavor from Weller 12 year wheated bourbon. Those specific barrels are going to give you the following flavor and aroma notes:

Almond, creamed corn, toasty vanilla and oak flavors.

We also have a CTC Blanton’s variant. You should try both and really enjoy the nuance of the barrels. These are two very different barleywines, both worth a try.

Sounds like you’re going to have to have a little taste test.

These are getting released in the taproom first this Friday, January 10th.

We’ll be open at noon!

Bottles are $25 per bottle.

We can’t wait to hear what you think!
