Fort Lauderdale residents looking to brew LauderAle

Fort Lauderdale has many choices of local beers to call their own. Residents Kyle Jones and Joe Farrell see a different problem, though, as Fort Lauderdale does not have a brewery in its city limits. Many breweries in South Florida are close to Fort Lauderdale, and serve the area, but none can yet claim to brew for the city in the city.

LauderAle is seeking to change that. LauderAle is planning to start off small (on a one-barrel brewing system), and grow organically after that.

According to an article in the Broward New Times:

Jones said the brewery should be functional in about a month, and he hopes to be open to the public sometime in the late spring or early summer.

Over the past year, Jones and Farrell have been perfecting their recipes and will have a saison, an American pale ale, an IPA, and a coffee porter — a favorite among fans — as their flagship brews. They haven’t trademarked the names yet, however.

South Florida is on the cusp of an eruption of new breweries in the coming years, with over a dozen breweries in the planning stages looking to open in the next 1-2 years.
