Press Release:
Orlando, FL – September 21st – Orlando’s only local, organic microbrewery will commemorate over 200 years of German tradition at this year’s 7th annual Oktoberfest celebration. At 1pm on September 21st a ceremonial tapping of Orlando Brewing’s 2013 organic Oktoberfest brew will mark the commencement of the month long Bavarian festival. The celebration will continue all day with German food, local vendors, a 3pm Cornhole tournament, traditional German music by Dan Witucki & Mein Heimatland Musikaten, and seventeen taps of beer brewed in accordance with the German Purity Law of 1516, the Reinheitsgebot.
‘Reinheitsgebot’ may be difficult to pronounce, but the concept is simple. The law decrees that beer is to be made with only four ingredients: water, hops, yeast and malted barley — no additives, no adjuncts. Except for four brews a year (dubbed the “Violator Series”), Orlando Brewing follows this time-tested tradition. Oktoberfest is no exception; this organic beer was brewed with deep-well, charcoal-filtered hard water from the Floridan aquifer, lager yeast, organic Hallertau hops and organic two-row Munich, Carapils and Caramel malted barley. The result is Oktoberfest, a medium bodied European amber lager with deep, rich malt character. It is initially malty sweet and finishes moderately dry with low hop bitterness.
For Oktoberfest enthusiasts (and lovers of unique beer wares) Orlando Brewing is releasing a limited number of 2013 commemorative mugs. This 22oz mug will bear this year’s Orlando Brewing Oktoberfest insignia, come with two free fills of Oktoberfest and grant patrons entry into the taproom’s Mug Club. Every Monday Oktoberfest mug owners may fill their mug for the price of a pint. They are also entitled to mug fills of Oktoberfest beer for pint-price every day from September 21st through October 13th.
Orlando Brewing will continue to celebrate Oktoberfest through mid-October with a series of events. In September they’ll hold beer school (28th), a Gold Coast Greyhound Rescue event (29th), as well as Beer:30 (30th). In October they’ll host a beer and cheese pairing (5th), an Anisocoria barley wine tasting (8th), a German-themed Nerd Nite (10th), an art show (12th) and an Old Time Music Jam (13th).
