Press Release:

Orlando’s only local, organic microbrewery to commemorate over 200 years of German tradition with an 8th annual Oktoberfest celebration. At 1pm on September 20th a tribute to the Bavarian festival will commence with the ceremonial tapping of the brewery’s 2014 organic Oktoberfest bier. The celebration will continue all day with German food by Vital Flair Catering, a 3pm Cornhole tournament, traditional German music by Dan Witucki & Mein Heimatland Musikaten beginning at 4pm, and 17 taps of their local, organic beer, 16 of which were brewed in accordance with the Reinheitsgebot.
While ‘Reinheitsgebot’ may be difficult to pronounce, the concept is simple. This 1516 German Purity Law decrees that beer is to be brewed with three ingredients: water, hops, and malted barley — no additives, no adjuncts. The law was later revised to include a vital ingredient, yeast, after its 1857 discovery. Orlando Brewing provides Central Florida with many beers brewed in accordance with this time-tested tradition, and Oktoberfest is no exception.

This organic marzen bier was brewed with deep-well, charcoal-filtered hard water from the Floridan aquifer, lager yeast, organic Hallertau hops and organic two-row Munich, Carapils and Caramel malted barleys. The result is Oktoberfest, a medium bodied European amber lager with deep, rich malt character. It begins with an initial malty sweetness and finishes moderately dry with low hop bitterness.

Orlando Brewing will release a limited number of 2014 commemorative mugs. The 24oz mug will bear this year’s Orlando Brewing Oktoberfest logo, come with two free fills of Oktoberfest bier and grant entry into the taproom’s Mug Monday. Every Monday Oktoberfest mug owners may fill their 24 oz mug for the price of a pint. The mug also entitles $5 fills of Oktoberfest beer from September 20th to October 13th, while supplies last. Patrons are encouraged to preorder their $25 mug, as supplies are limited, and all preordered mugs will come with a free 2014 Oktoberfest shirt.
Orlando Brewing will continue to celebrate Oktoberfest through October 13th with a series of events.
