Peg’s Cantina and Cycle Brewing have a close relationship. In fact, when Cycle Brewing had their surprise opening a couple months ago, Peg of Peg’s Cantina quickly clarified their relationship. Now, Peg’s got a new brew house and so did Cycle, in a manner of speaking.
From the Gulfport Cantina, posted on 14 October:
We are making the move at Peg’s. Moving the 3.5 brew house to Central and moving the 7 brrl brew house, fabricated in St. Petersburg, into place behind the Cantina.
About Peg’s Cantina: Peg, Tony and Doug opened their first restaurant in 2004. Calling it “A Gulfport Original,” Peg’s Pizza Cantina combined Thin Crust Pizza and Fresh Mexican Food. The cantina came to have lines of customers waiting in the parking lot to get a seat. The open kitchen brought customer and cook together in a way that larger places are just not able to. The main goal was to create a public space that brought folks together to share food, drink and fun. The experiment is evolving. Peg’s added an on-site brewery that brought the creative talents of Peg’s son Doug Dozark to a head. In 2013, Doug branched off and form his own brewery, Cycle Brewing, while still brewing at Peg’s.
