Press Release:

Playalinda Brewing Company is elated to announce that brewery partner and head brewmaster/certified cicerone Ron Raike has been inducted into the 2015 Orlando Sentinel Culinary Hall of Fame. With more than 300 nominees submitted for this year’s Hall of Fame class, Raike was one of only 10 inductees.

Having spent the last 25 years advancing the local craft beer movement, both as a master brewer as well as an instructor, Raike was an ideal candidate for the Hall of Fame. As one of Florida’s few certified cicerones, Raike has reached the pinnacle of his craft in a variety of capacities, including being recognized as the Southeast Homebrewer of the Year in 1995, stints as head brewer at Winter Park’s Shipyard Emporium and Cask & Larder and his current role at Playalinda Brewing Company where he oversees the production of more than 20 varieties of world class craft beer.

“When I’m not brewing beer, I’m studying, researching and of course drinking beer,” says Raike. “It’s humbling to see how many people appreciate and celebrate my passion.”
The Orlando Sentinel Culinary Hall of Fame was established in 2008 to pay homage to the individuals and businesses that have advanced Central Florida’s food ways and culinary culture.
Heather McPherson, Orlando Sentinel’s food editor and columnist, shared kind words regarding Raike’s Hall of Fame induction. “Though some may see Central Florida’s microbrews as a new trend, people such as Raike tapped that keg long ago.”
