Press Release:

Nearly a year since launching Titusville’s first craft brewery, the founding partners behind Playalinda Brewing Co. have announced plans to build an offsite production brewery and distillery, both co-branded as The Brix Project. The production brewery will allow the company to fulfill the increasingly high demand for its beer locally, while paving the way to distribute its products across Florida. The distillery leg of the business will introduce a first-of-its-kind liquor production facility to Brevard County that will specialize in small batch spirits.

Slated to open in 2016, if terms between the project’s partners, Brevard County and the City of Titusville are agreed upon, the production brewery, distillery, tasting room, beer garden and onsite restaurant will occupy 16,000-square-feet at 5220 S. Washington Ave. Construction and design efforts will be led by RUSH Construction and Eleven 18 Architecture. The deal calls for the project’s partners to invest $3.65 million for building refurbishment, construction costs, machinery, equipment and furniture.

“We are currently in serious discussions with Brevard County and the City of Titusville with hope to finalize a deal soon that allows us to open The Brix Project here on the Space Coast,” said Bryan Scott, co-founder of Playalinda Brewing Company. “We’re taking the same approach we did with Playalinda Brewing and following our dream. So as a backup plan, we’ve begun preliminary location scouting for the project in Orlando as well.”

Scott estimates the The Brix Project will add approximately 38 new jobs to the local economy by the end of 2016.

Playalinda Brewing’s Co-Founder and Brewmaster Ron Raike will also assume lead brewing and distilling efforts at The Brix Project. At its helm, Raike will oversee production upwards of 30,000 barrels of beer annually, as well as distilling small-batch gin, vodka and whiskey.
