One of the state’s newest meaderies, Pye Road Meadworks has announced their lineup for the weekend’s Mead Day festivities and many honey mead lovers will rejoice to see this many meads made with meadowfoam honey.

Saturday, August 7, 2021 is INTERNATIONAL MEAD DAY! The first Saturday of August is reserved worldwide to celebrate the oldest fermented beverage in the world, and Pye Road is ready to celebrate our first Mead Day with a splash!
Irrational Bottle Release
Back in early April, our friends at Manic Meadery in Crown Point, Indiana paid us a visit. We teamed up to create a mead that we named Irrational. Irrational is a red raspberry mead fermented with Florida orange blossom honey. As fermentation neared its end, we dumped an additional dose of whole red raspberries into the tank! The resulting mead is, simply, an intensely flavorful red raspberry bomb.
Irrational bottles will be offered on Oznr during the week prior to Mead Day, and Irrational bottle pickups will begin on Friday, August 6, with Irrational going on tap in our Tasting Room on Saturday, August 7. We have also held some Emeralds at Dusk bottles for the tasting room, and Stained Glass Shadows (which is still available on Oznr) will be available for purchase and/or pickup as well! If you missed out on either of these meads, Mead Day is an excellent opportunity to fix that!
Exclusive Mead Day Marshmeadow Sessions
To celebrate our first Mead Day, we’re doing our own version of a “Tap Takeover” in house. We’re creating six Mead Day-exclusive Joyride Remix Marshmeadow session mead kegs inspired by our Meadowfoam honey meads. These session meads are fruity and lightly carbonated, will be between 5-6% ABV, and will feature pacific northwest Meadowfoam honey obtained exclusively for Mead Day! Joyride Remix offerings will include:
- Pear’d Marshmeadow
- Apple Pie Marshmeadow
- Blackberry Marshmeadow
- Raspberry Marshmeadow
- And… two more that are still TBD!
These offerings will be exclusive to the tap room on Mead Day, and we will be offering session flights of all six Joyride Remix Marshmeadows for our taproom visitors. However, to ensure we have adequate supply for Mead Day, we will not be filling cans of these on August 7th. Fear not! Any remaining Marshmeadow sessions will be available in cans on Sunday the 8th and until supplies are exhausted.
