Here are a few snippets of news happening around Florida in recent headlines:

Universal Studios Orlando added two new beers to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter according to InsideUniversal. The beers, Daisyroot Draught and Dark Forest Ale, are served in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade areas of the park. The website that reported this news says that Daisyroot Draught tastes like a British Golden Ale and Dark Forest Ale tastes like a Brown Ale.

 

Plant City’s Keel Farms makes beer with recycled water.  According to The Plant City Observer, Keel Farms owner Clay Keel used approximately 400 gallons of ultra-purified, recycled water from Plant City’s Advance Water Treatment Plant to create “Deja Brew,” a pale lager brewed with Nelson Sauvin hops. According to Keel, “We’ve never used anything other than our well water to make beer in the last 10 years and the water that came out of this system was like distilled water, there was nothing in it. It’s unique as a brewer because we could build the water to the beer as we wanted it.”

Grace Note Brewing

 

NEW BREWERY: In Jacksonville, Grace Note Brewing opened their doors in mid-October. According to The Florida Times-Union, Grace Note Brewing is open at 4591 Lakeside Dr. at Winward Sadler Point Marina on the Ortega River.

 

Orlando contract brewer Brew Theory announced plans to add Sushi Saint to their Pittman Street location in collaboration with Michelin-Star chef Mike Collantes. The 2500-square-foot spot inside Brew Theory will seat 12 people and will also have lounge seating according to an article on ClickOrlando.com.

 

Crooked Can Brewing of Winter Garden has announced they are building a second location – this one in Minneola. According to an article in ClickOrlando, the award-winning craft brewer plans to open a 40,000-square-foot location in Minneola that will act as the company’s headquarters, since it is only about 10 miles from Crooked Can’s current location. Crooked Can will celebrate ten years in craft beer in 2024, and expects to start construction on the new headquarters the same year.
