In the current climate, with brewery closing announcements seeming to come on a regular basis, brewery anniversary celebrations are always a welcome reminder that many of Florida’s craft breweries are going strong. 7venth Sun Brewery’s is this kind of celebration – one where it is the perfect time to celebrate the beer, the brewery, and the people that make this operation run.
It also helps that the brewery is dropping cans of a new beer, this one a collaboration with Pennsylvania’s Voodoo Brewery.

BEER DROP:
Friday, in collaboration with Voodoo Brewery, a three-part Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout series: EDMOND’S HEIRLOOM.
Edmond’s Heirloom PNG – with Tahitensis vanilla from Papua New Guinea (PNG). Sweet and rich, with subtle notes of Caramel, Chocolate, and dried Cherries.??
Edmond’s Heirloom V – with Vanatu vanilla (V). Powerful vanilla aromatics with notes of Nutmeg and Ginger.??
Edmond’s Heirloom TE – with Tahitensis vanilla from Ecuador (TE). Tastes like delectable Butter Cake and has notes of sweet Cherry!??
This series honors Edmond Albius who was a 12-year-old slave when he invented the pollination process that catapulted the vanilla industry, which is still used now, 180 years later. While he solved a botanical mystery that stumped the greatest botanists of the time and enriched the country of Reunion with the explosion of its newest export, he received no compensation except his release from slavery, unfairly dying in poverty at the age of 51.
We want to pay tribute to his extraordinary contribution with these three whiskey & bourbon barrel-aged beers, showcasing different varietals from the only species of orchid that produces an edible fruit.
Available at both 7venth Sun locations Friday for our 10 year anniversary in 8-ounce cans. We can’t wait to party with you all!
7venth Sun Brewery knows how hard it is to shop for family and loved ones around the holidays, so the Dunedin and Seminole Heights-based brewery is releasing a few new and a favorite beer in cans this week for your gift-giving needs.
From 7venth Sun Brewery:
So many new 16oz cans coming this week to both locations! If you can manage to not drink them yourself, they’ll make great gifts. We understand if you can’t help yourself though.
But this time it’s BIGGER!
We used Lotus hops and lactose for a creamy, citrusy finish in this 6.1% hazy IPA.

About 7venth Sun Brewery
7venth Sun held its grand opening on January 7, 2012 in Dunedin, Florida by owner/operator Devon Kreps. Devon graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in Fermentation Science. Directly out of school, she was hired to brew in Anheuser-Busch’s pilot facility and then moved up to management at AB’s Cartersville location. After several years working for AB, Devon decided to head south to Atlanta, GA to work for a smaller craft brewery. Equipped with the brewing and business skills she had learned at these companies, Devon and two friends decided to team up and began to search for the right spot to open their own brewery in the Tampa Bay Area. Both of those partners have since left the business and Devon is continuing to elevate 7venth Sun’s creativity by developing fresh new recipes and utilizing surprising flavor combinations.
About Angry Chair Brewing
You’re probably here for the stouts, that’s what we are most known for. There’s no line we won’t cross in that area, and we appreciate the love we receive for our interpretations of that style. With beer, you’re always learning, experimenting, and tweaking something. We consider our beers forward thinking, and we don’t always brew to style. Somehow we won a gold medal for our pilsner though, so we can follow the rules if we want to.
Both locations of 7venth Sun Brewery are celebrating the company’s anniversary this weekend.
The business held its grand opening January 7th, 2012, six years ago this Sunday, and they recently opened a new location in the Seminole Heights neighborhood of Tampa. The celebration will be taking place in both locations with a 32, 7venth Sun beers on tap in Tampa and 14 in Dunedin. Additionally, an anniversary one-off can release of Sakura Obscura, a pomegranate cherry Berliner-style Weisse and Electric Wizard, an IPA heavily hopped with Citra and loaded up with Strawberries will take place.
When: this Sunday 1/7 at noon
Where: 6809 N Nebraska Ave, Tampa & 1012 Broadway, Dunedin
Press Release: Results came in a little more than a week ago for the eleventh World Beer Cup, hosted every two years and known as the most prestigious beer competition in the world. Over 200 judges gathered to taste nearly 6600 entries from 1907 breweries. Among Florida’s five winning breweries, 7venth Sun Brewery of Dunedin (and soon to be Tampa), took a silver medal for their Saison, La Fete, in the Session category. This award was the capstone after accumulating several awards in recent months, including a bronze for Vultures From the Past, a barrel-aged barley wine, at the annual Chicago hosted Festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beers. 7venth Sun also received best small brewery two years running in Florida’s Best of Florida Beer Championships as well as winning a gold medal for La Fete, a silver for Headbanger IPA and a gold and best small batch beer for Vultures From the Past.
The brewery hopes to ride this wave of success into the opening of their second location in Tampa before the end of the year. The 18,000 square foot warehouse will offer the opportunity to produce more beer as well as a second and larger tasting room and event space. Demolition is currently underway with build-out soon to follow. The team plans to continue to brew the same type and styles of beers it currently offers in Dunedin – IPAs, Saisons, Farmhouse and Old World Style beers – as well as a large expansion of their barrel-aged program. Details to come as the project progresses.
Congratulations to 7venth Sun on this latest award!
It is no secret that 7venth Sun is driving great beer forward in their Dunedin home and that, as they told Florida Beer News, the new Sun location in Seminole Heights is well on its way. This year, the annual day-after-Hunahpu Day celebration, dubbed Hunahpu Hangover Day, will have a brother.
From 7venth Sun (condensed, see original here):
You’ve been a believer, a supporter, and a lover of beer, and it’s only because of you that we get to do what we love most…
This year for Hangover Day, we thought we would christen our new location with a lot party in honor of you. Since we are still in the process of building out for the new facility, the parking lot will host the event. And because Dunedin is where it all started and what you made possible, we are also going to continue the tradition of Dunedin Hangover Day, too.
Thanks again for believing in what we do. It’s damned fun because we get to hang out with you while we drink and make beer.
Salud,
Devon and Justin, and the 7venth Sun Crew
Hunahpu Hangover Day will take place at the 7venth Sun Seminole Heights and 7venth Sun Dunedin locations on Sunday, March 13th 2016.
