Copper Point Brewing and Barrel of Monks Brewing collaborate on Fleur de Blonde

Two of South Florida’s most Belgian-inspired breweries are releasing their ode to Brussels breezes on July 20th.  The beer is called Fleur de Blonde and bottles will be available in both tasting rooms.

From Barrel of Monks Brewing:

A beer as easy as a summer breeze in Brussels…
Our first ever collab with our friends at Copperpoint Brewing Co. will transport you to old world alleys and ancient streets, where beer traditions are as old as the cobblestones. Fleur de Blonde is a 7% Belgian-style Blonde Ale that stems from tradition and pours with nuance. The European malt is combined with new world hop varieties Hüll Melon, Hallertau Blanc, and Mandarina Bavaria, and fermented with a classic Belgian yeast strain to produce a balance between light sweetness, low pleasant hop bitterness, a fruity hop aroma, and a clean finish.

The recipe for Fleur de Blonde was created by our brewmasters Bill McFee and Matt Cox out of a common love for the style and a long term respect for each other. It will be available on draft at both breweries and in bottles for $13.99 at the Barrel of Monks tasting room.

The Story:
Brewmasters Bill and Matt became friends many years back when Matt was already working as a professional brewer and both were formulating plans to start their own independent breweries. As Copperpoint and Barrel of Monks became reality and evolved into local Palm Beach County favorites, they have maintained this friendship and have finally worked together to create this delicious brew.

Coppertail Brewing celebrates Kiko Santiago 2019 release

Tampa’s Coppertail Brewing Company has a special place in their heart for IPAs.  Coppertail’s IPAs are a chance for head brewer Casey Hughes to experiment with some of the latest hops and see how their profile evolves with the malted barley mural he paints in every glass.  Coppertail’s Alpha Hunt Series of IPAs changes each year so that Casey and Coppertail’s brewing staff can brew new, exciting, and evolving IPAs.

According to the brewery, the Alpha Hunt Beers are “a series of India pale ales dedicated to the discovery of new hops and the constant hunt for innovative IPAs.” In the Alpha Hunt Series of IPAs, each beer is named for a fictional explorer that devoted him or herself to the search for the mythical Coppertail monster that the brewery is named for.  Clues to the story of the explorer and the monster are on every six-pack of Coppertail beer- both in and out of the Alpha Hunt Series.

Victory Brewing introduces Vital IPA to Florida

Press Release: Victory Brewing Company (Victory) introduces Vital IPA in 12 oz. bottles in six and twelve packs with a new social media campaign to celebrate the spirit of ‘Vital.’ Fans of Victory will share photos of themselves enjoying the fresh, crisp and complex brew while pursuing their favorite summertime activities – whether lounging on a hammock, cooling off from a bike ride, or enjoying a backyard barbeque, Vital IPA is #VitalToWhereYouAre. Throughout the next two months, select hashtag users will be awarded Victory swag such as t-shirts and Koozies

Available year-round, Vital IPA is bright and aromatic, packed with American Simcoe, Chinook and Citra hops and clean German malts. The result is a light-bodied, golden IPA with rich aromas of pine, tropical fruits and stone fruits. Vital IPA has a 6.5% ABV and can be purchased throughout Victory’s 37 state distribution footprint for a suggested retail price of $9.99 for a 6-pack of 12 oz. bottles or cans.

Vital IPA is a unique IPA that falls into a category of its own. It was conceived when the brewers at Victory found themselves yearning for a different kind of IPA–one that finished with the refreshment of a Pilsner. As German-trained lager brewers, Victory’s brewers combined their European training with the brewery’s overarching thirst for American creativity to create an IPA that stands out for its pilsner malt base, extremely dry fermentation, filtered clarity and aromatically intense American dry hop profile over a bitter, quenching finish. Pilsner brewing requires a certain thoughtfulness that the Vital IPA brewing process replicates in the malt bill, hop schedule and fermentation temperature. Another Vital IPA distinction is its incorporation of a very unique ale-yeast strain, the Kolsch yeast native to Köln, Germany, that is not utilized in a similar fashion by any other craft brewers.

“Vital IPA begins as an IPA and finishes as a Pilsner, providing an entirely unique flavor experience. We wanted to make an IPA that was crisp, refreshing and a real cooler beer. Something you reach for on a hike, at a concert or at the beach,” said Victory founder and brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “Be it on draft, in a can or a bottle, we want this beer to be Vital to Where You Are.”

Bold City is releasing Vernon’s Pilsner this weekend

This weekend will see the release of a new beer from Jacksonville’s Bold City Brewery, Vernon’s Pilsner.

From Bold City Brewery:

Sat. April 2, 6pm. Live Music, Food & $1 for every Pint will go to St. Johns Riverkeeper.

Vernon Dean, a Bold City fixture in and around the brewery, will never be forgotten by all who visited or worked at Bold City Brewery while he was here. Vernon handled chef duties for Jolly Mon Catering inside Bold City and suddenly passed away in January 2015. We have brewed a special beer in his honor – Vernon’s Pilsner – which was created to reflect Vernon’s lovable golden and bitter personality. This is Bold City’s first pilsner.

This Saturday (April 2), Bold City Brewery is honored to host the VERNON’S PILSNER RELEASE PARTY starting at 6 pm and a toast to Vernon at 7 pm! We will be donating $1 from every pint sold to St. Johns Riverkeeper, an organization that was close to Vernon’s heart.

There will be live music performed by the awesome Kustom Deluxe band beginning at 7pm and La Bodega Original will be serving Paella for this special event. As a reminder, the JTA Trolley will be running that evening and you can get your passes right here at Bold City!

Come out and join us as we celebrate the life of Vernon Dean! We’re sure he’d say we are just doing this as an excuse to drink!

Bold City Brewery is located at 2670-7 Rosselle Street in Jacksonville.

Veterans United Craft Brewery is releasing Barrel Aged Farmer’s Little Helper

Veterans United Craft Brewery of Jacksonville is releasing their first barrel-aged offering out of their tasting room to the general public beginning today.

From Veterans United:

With the fall season upon us, what better time than now to roll out our first bottle and first barrel-aged beer to our loyal customers!! Barrel-Aged Farmers Little Helper is a refreshingly dry Belgian-style Saison that was aged in Sauvignon Blanc wine barrels. The saison’s fruitiness blends well with the elements of the wine and the oak character of the barrel. Saisons were traditionally brewed in spring and served as a fortifying drink for the farm hands during the fall harvest season. Farmers Little Helper is slightly more powerful than these traditional brews; imbibe carefully and limit your work with heavy farm equipment.

We have carefully prepared 750mL bottles of this wonderful harvest-time brew. Starting on Wednesday October 28th, you may purchase a bottle (or two……or three…..or more) by visiting our staff at the taproom (please note that this beer is for take home only….no on-site consumption allowed). Price of this incredible brew is $20 per bottle.

Veterans United Craft Brewery is located at 8999 Western Way in Jacksonville.
