Press Release – All About Beer, the media brand founded in 1979 that helped generations of beer drinkers navigate the dynamic brewing industry through news, education, and analysis, is back online following a two-year absence.
While beer is an exciting beverage and industry, every now and again I like to look to similar industries for insights and information, and mead is so beer-adjacent that it was a natural selection. In this episode, I am joined by Matt and Debbie McDonough who will soon open Pye Road Meadworks in the Odessa area – north of Tampa.

It has been a long, wild ride since Florida Beer News launched many years ago. We launched Florida Beer News because this little brewery in Gulfport, Peg’s Cantina, who was making some of the most sought-after beers in the country decided to finally offer growlers. None of the normal beer outlets wanted to cover this, so Florida Beer News came into being with the mission of providing coverage and attention to the work of Florida’s craft brewers. I am not wonderfully technical, so it was only with the help of an awesome team that I was able to bring this vision to life.
As Florida beer has grown from 90 breweries when we started to a number that pushes closer to 400 today, we realized recently that we are going to need to evolve the website into something a bit bigger. As of this week, Florida Beer News will be migrating our name, our site, and our presence to become BeerWise. You will see changes to our social media profiles, our name, and our website will soon redirect to BeerWise.org. BeerWise’s mission is still the same, with a slightly expanded focus on the wider beer industry. The site was born out of a love for Florida craft beer, and we will continue to bring you the best coverage we can of Florida beer, but we are also going to expand into talking about the wider beer industry because there is so much to talk about. We’re also excited to announce that we are launching the BeerWise podcast with the mission to bring the news, information, interviews, and headlines right to your devices. (Give us a little time to get the kinks worked out, but we’ve got our first episode launching real soon!)
