Berliner Bash date changed

The Berliner Bash on the Bay, an annual event that brings out the most acidic beers that Florida has to offer, has had to change its 2014 date.

J. Wakefield Brewing, the event organizer, posted the change on Facebook (note that Wakefield refers to the event as “Floridaweisse Bash” and Cycle Brewing refers to it as Berliner Bash–it is the same event):

The Floridaweisse Bash will now be held on May 10th at Green Bench brewing. We had to move it due to some scheduling conflicts. I should have more hard details later this week but this is a firm date so we hope you guys will be able to make it out.

The event will take place at Green Bench Brewing Company at 1134 Baum Avenue North in Saint Petersburg on May 10th. No time has yet been posted.

Update on Berliner Bash

Several announcements went out on Monday from the breweries involved in what used to be the “Berliner Bash on the Bay” hosted by Peg’s Cantina in Gulfport.

First, Cycle Brewing announced:

Unfortunately the Berliner Bash at Peg’s Cantina as it was called the past few years, is postponed. We are sorry to say that we will not be hosting this event this spring as we had hoped but you can check out J Wakefield Brewing for what Jonathan is planning instead, the Master of Florida Weisse will be making something happen for all the fans of the style.
In other news, its March, its another fantastic day and we have a record (for us anyway) 19 beers on tap downtown!

When asked in the comments of the post, Doug from Cycle Brewing responded with:

What you may not have known was the real work and effort to put this particular event together came from Jonathan Wakefield and this year we just didn’t feel that we could do the event as well as it deserves to be done. We are not saying we wont do it again, just that our plans to get it put together this spring turned out to be too ambitious.

J. Wakefield Brewing gathered no moss, and quickly moved the venue a few minutes to the north in Saint Petersburg:

This an update on the Floridaweisse Bash. It is still on for April 26th. Due to circumstances it will no longer be held at Pegs/Cycle brewing. This year it will be held at our friends Green Bench Brewing location in St. Pete. After this year it will be moved to Miami from then on. Both Green Bench and I will be posting more details in the next few days so keep an eye out.

So the Bash is still on, it will just be a little further to the north. Keep that bottle of Tums handy and the calendar marked for April 26th.
