Bold City Brewery starts Treatment Thursdays

Bold City Brewery keeps rocking and rolling with news of releases and now the brewery is going to start tapping a new treatment once each week.

From the Bold City newsletter:

Also, next Thursday (29 September 2016) we’ll be starting something we’ve coined as Bold Treatment Thursdays. We’ll be taking one of the Bold City Brews and treating / infusing it with different flavors. First up next week is the Mad Manatee IPA treated with Meyers Lemon Zest and Organic Kaffir Lime Leaves. We’ll have one half barrel keg which is 15.5 gallons or approx. 124 pints. When it’s gone it’s gone and we’ll tap a newly treated brew the following Bold Treatment Thursday! No growler fills of these brews.

About Bold City Brewery
Bold City Brewery is locally owned and operated by Brian and Susan Miller (no relation to the Miller Brewing Company, although the money would be nice). They are supported by the rest of the Miller family who all have a hand in the operations whether it be marketing, distributing, ordering supplies, cleaning tanks, or doing what’s most important: brewing beer. Brian, the Brewmaster, started home brewing in 2002. He was a member of the Local Home Brewers club in Jacksonville prior to opening the brewery. His mother, Susan, left her job in management at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida to join the beer biz. She is primarily responsible for managing the on-site Tavern.
The concept of opening a business, any business, can be a scary one, but at some point,
you have to allow yourself to dream about what could be and push forward with your aspirations. There has been a lot of long hours and hard work, but we’ve been blessed with good times and a bundle of fun along the way.  Our city has a very large craft brew following and it’s our honor to create Jacksonville’s own selection of Craft Beer. We hope to see you soon! BE BOLD!

Bold City is releasing Vernon’s Pilsner this weekend

This weekend will see the release of a new beer from Jacksonville’s Bold City Brewery, Vernon’s Pilsner.

From Bold City Brewery:

Sat. April 2, 6pm. Live Music, Food & $1 for every Pint will go to St. Johns Riverkeeper.

Vernon Dean, a Bold City fixture in and around the brewery, will never be forgotten by all who visited or worked at Bold City Brewery while he was here. Vernon handled chef duties for Jolly Mon Catering inside Bold City and suddenly passed away in January 2015. We have brewed a special beer in his honor – Vernon’s Pilsner – which was created to reflect Vernon’s lovable golden and bitter personality. This is Bold City’s first pilsner.

This Saturday (April 2), Bold City Brewery is honored to host the VERNON’S PILSNER RELEASE PARTY starting at 6 pm and a toast to Vernon at 7 pm! We will be donating $1 from every pint sold to St. Johns Riverkeeper, an organization that was close to Vernon’s heart.

There will be live music performed by the awesome Kustom Deluxe band beginning at 7pm and La Bodega Original will be serving Paella for this special event. As a reminder, the JTA Trolley will be running that evening and you can get your passes right here at Bold City!

Come out and join us as we celebrate the life of Vernon Dean! We’re sure he’d say we are just doing this as an excuse to drink!

Bold City debuts new Screamsicle Ale

Jacksonville’s Bold City Brewery has been pouring forth their regular and seasonal lineup, serving thirsty locals and tourists alike. Starting this week, Bold City will be adding a new beer to their lineup. Look for Screamsicle to pour at two venues, then the tap room starting next week.

From Bold City:

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for … Screamsicle! Bold City Brewery is excited to announce the creation of a new Bold City beer! – the Orange Screamsicle which will be available at Welcome To Rockville at Metropolitan Park this weekend!
This brew uses big fat bourbon vanilla beans, sweet orange peel and a bit of milk sugar to achieve that flavor we all knew as a kid, an ice cold Creamsicle Popsicle! Just like the Popsicle, this brew is great on a hot Florida day. Super drinkable (insert buzz word ‘sessionable’) with a low enough ABV that you can enjoy a few! We hope you all have as much fun drinking this brew as we did making it! Note: 4.5% ABV & 21 IBUs
It will be available in the taproom starting Thursday (Apr 30)

Bold City Brewery to begin adding nitro beer to tap room

Jacksonville’s Bold City Brewery has had a pretty steady lineup of beers in their tap room since they finalized their seasonal rotation. To shake things up a bit, Bold City is going to be adding a nitro tap to their Jacksonville tasting room and will begin to nitrogenize some of their beers accordingly. The brewery announced in a recent newsletter that the brewery is going to be “experimenting with some of Bold City’s beer served from a nitro tap.”

From the Bold City newsletter:

On a positive note, we put in a nitro tap here @ the brewery so we are going to start experimenting with some of Bold City’s beer served from a nitro tap. First up is the Duke’s Brown Ale which we’ll be pouring on nitro next Thursday 4/2/15 starting @ 3pm.

Bold City Brewery is located at 2670-7 Rosselle Street in Jacksonville.

Bold City Brewing to tap Secret Stout

Bold City Brewing is not keeping this stout a secret for very long. One of their rotating seasonal beers, Secret Stout makes an annual appearance, and then goes away. Well in 2014, Bold City announced the arrival of the Secret Stout and it is not so hush-hush.

From Bold City Newsletter:

On Wednesday 11/26/14 @ noon we will be tapping our winter seasonal, the Super Secret Stout just in time for Thanksgiving BABY! The tap room will be closed on Thanksgiving so we will be open @ noon-11pm on Wednesday 11/26. We will also be tapping a cask of the Super Secret Stout @ noon on 11/26.

Bold City Brewery announces new seasonal

Jacksonville- Bold City Brewery announced last week that they had a “a special surprise tapping of our Summer Seasonal.” They put off the tapping until June 13th and then finally they unveiled this brew to the world.

From the Bold City Brewery Newsletter, as written by Brian Miller, Bold City’s Director of Operations:

My Dad, Big John Miller as we like to call him, has been requesting, on the verge of begging, for us to brew an Apricot Wheat ale. We have been trying to fit it in the brew schedule for the last year or so but have been unable to. With Father’s day coming up on Sunday, we had to get it done. So we brewed, packaged, got a sweet label made all without him knowing. Last night, we unveiled the new brew with the whole family here and he was super stoked. It was a fantastic moment and one myself and I’m sure my Dad, will not soon forget. The new ale is called Big John’s Apricot wheat and it has a picture of the one and only Big John Miller on it.

Apparently the Millers kept the beer secret in order to surprise their patriarch, and now it will be distributed in Jacksonville. No word yet on if this beer will become a permanent addition to the Bold City lineup.
