Cajun Cafe on the Bayou Cider & Mead Festival is pouring soon

Cajun Cafe on the Bayou is well-known for world-class beer festivals. Festivals at the Cajun Cafe boast short lines for a pour and great company and conversation in addition to outstanding food on the day of the event and beyond. In 2015, Cajun Cafe began a new festival during the fleeting winter weeks of the new year: a cider and mead festival. In typical Cajun Cafe style, owner Paul Unwin has been busy stocking up for festival day and he has racked up an attendance list as well.

In some recent posts, Cajun Cafe has confirmed:

* Perennial Florida resident Brad Dahlofer, owner of B. Nektar Meadery and Cidery, will be present, pouring for his company.
* Frank Retell, the mazer at Kuhnhenn Winery & Brewery, will be pouring Kuhnhenn meads (native to Michigan, no distribution in Florida).
* Garagiste Meadery in Apollo Beach, Florida will attend and pour their meads.
* Kent Waldeck, owner of Crafted Meadery in Ohio, will be present and pouring meads.
* Timo Krjukoff, owner of Sahtipaja Brewing in Gothenburg, Sweden, has sent along two meads for festivalgoers to try.

These folks and their fine meaderies join along with a collection of other cideries and meaderies being represented from around the world.

The Cajun Cafe Cider & Mead Festival will take place on 6 February, 2016 from 2-6pm at Cajun Cafe on the Bayou, 8101 Park Boulevard North in Pinellas Park.

Cajun Cafe on the Bayou presents a world class sour beer festival

It seems like every beer festival that Cajun Cafe on the Bayou in Pinellas Park throws gets bigger and better. In this spirit of constant bar-raising comes the 2014 Cajun Cafe Sour Festival. How can one raise the bar on a sour beer festival? Check the highlight reel:

* Cajun Cafe owner Paul Unwin prides himself on finding and presenting beers unavailable in the Florida Market during his festivals. This sour festival will see beers from Sahtipaja of Sweden, Trinity of Fort Collins, and several others.

* Aside from out-of-market beers, Unwin works to get some of the best beers from Florida’s indigenous breweries like Cigar City, Tequesta, 7venth Sun, Rapp, Green Bench, Six Ten, and many more.

* Cajun Cafe Festivals also showcase Florida’s up-and-coming breweries from around the state like Coppertail, Gravity Brewlab, Angry Chair, and Wild Oak Artisan Ales.

* In addition to all of these fine ale advocates, Cajun Cafe will be hosting Eric and Lauren Salazar from New Belgium Brewing Company to talk about sour beer, blending beers, and pouring La Folie (Sour Brown Ale) and Loves Leopold (Sour Beer Aged in Blackberry Whiskey Barrels).

Cajun Cafe on the Bayou is located at 8101 Park Avenue in Pinellas Park. The Third Annual Sour, Berliner Weisse, and Lambic Festival will last from 2-6pm on Saturday, June 14th. Admission is $50 in advance on ETIX.com and $65 at the gate, if not sold out. The festival features 150 beers to taste, is mostly under cover, and provides a plate of food with the beers. Rapp Brewing to be featured at Crawfish Festival

Beer and crawfish may seem like an unlikely combination, but Seminole’s Rapp Brewing Company will be pouring six of their creations at the 17th Annual Cajun Cafe on the Bayou Crawfish Festival.

Cajun Cafe on the Bayou, long known as a hot spot for local Florida Craft Beer, has announced the lineup for their festival: crawfish, cajun food, live music, and craft beer on tap. Rapp Brewing will be making a special appearance on the Saturday of festival weekend, but 6 drafts and bottled craft beer will be available on other festival days.

The 17th Annual Cajun Cafe on the Bayou Crawfish Festival will take place April 4, 5, and 6 at the cafe, 8101 Park Boulevard in Pinellas Park.

Cigar City Brewing, Proof, and others claim spot on Ratebeer Best

Ratebeer.com, one of the top beer rating websites on the Internet, releases annual statistics regarding which breweries rate highest amongst their members. This set of rankings and statistics, the “Ratebeer Best” list, is stacked with names of brewers both up-and-coming and perennial favorites.

Ratebeer trickels out pieces of the Ratebeer Best over the course of several weeks, and so far they have released “Best New Brewers,” “Best Beer, Brewer, and New Brewer By Subregion,” and on Friday “Best Retailers by Subregion.”

While none of Florida’s Class of 2013 has made the “New Brewers” list, this year Tampa’s Cigar City Brewing has been cleaning up on awards, and the retailers list this year lists some places new and old.

The winners thus far:

*Cigar City Brewing’s Hunahpu Imperial Stout has won for Best Beer in Florida.
*Cigar City Brewing has won for best brewer in Florida.
*Proof Brewing of Tallahassee has won for best brewpub (in this case a brewpub is a place that sells their beer on premise).
*Pinellas Park’s Cajun Cafe on the Bayou has won for best craft beer restaurant.
*Orlando’s Knightly Spirits has won for best bottle shop.
*Jacksonville’s Grassroots Market has won for best grocery store.
*Orlando’s Redlight Redlight has won for best craft beer bar.

Congratulations to all of the winners. This year, the accolades have been distributed much more widely through the state than in years past.
