Fat Point Brewing Company: events and closer to opening

The folks at Fat Point Brewing Company, Punta Gorda’s future craft brewery, are pounding pavement to give people the good beer news that Punta Gorda will soon have a craft brewery. If that wasn’t reason enough for Southwest Florida celebration, then the upcoming preview events might be.

From Fat Point’s blog:

*After testing and cleaning all of next week, we’re brewing our first large scale batch on June 24th with successive brews each of the following two days. We’re going to brew 60BBLs that first week – or close to 2000 gallons of Fat Point beer.

*We worked with Executive Chef Jason Van Marter from Opus restuarant in Punta Gorda to plan our next event there. On June 29th, we’re going to have our Beer Brunch tasting including interesting twists on old favorites such as beer mimosas, micheladas (bloody beers), a Belgian strong ale and even a one-of-a-kind brew just for this event. Our team brewed a stout infused with cinnamon, allspice and coffee for this event!

*We hope to open our tap room in early August.

Angry Chair Brewing receives equipment

Angry Chair Brewing, Seminole Heights’s perpetually soon-to-open craft brewery, has stepped a little closer to being open.

As of today (Wednesday), Angry Chair Brewing has taken possession of fermenters, brite tanks, and their brew house. This marks a special step in the opening process, as Angry Chair has had to endure repeated delays to get this close to opening day. More details to follow as the guys with a thing for Seattle band Alice In Chains get closer to opening their brewery.

Angry Chair will be pouring their beers at Cajun Cafe on the Bayou’s Spring Craft Beer Festival on Saturday, May 3rd.

Saint Petersburg Brewing Company one step closer to opening

Saint Petersburg Brewing Company has come a long way from a contract beer brewed and sent down to Florida to standing on the precipice of opening their own brewery and brewing their own beer for their tasting room in the namesake city.

On Wednesday, the brewery got one step closer to opening as they installed a flue. The same thing that Mary Poppins and her companions went up, and Santa Claus could come down, but according to the brewery a necessary final step. The most important new information from the brewery:

“We are so excited we got the flue! Pretty crazy looking contraption!! We needed it to vent the brewhouse to the roof. One more inspection and we are finished!!!!”

Saint Petersburg Brewing Company is located at 544 First Avenue North in Saint Petersburg. Within walking distance from the other members of the Saint Petersburg beer community: Cycle Brewing, Green Bench Brewing, and Three Daughters Brewing.
