Funky Buddha Hop Stimulator drops next week

Press Release: Monstrous hop flavor is headed your way! Hop Stimulator Double IPA – our first new year-round release in three years – is arriving on draft and in four-pack, 12oz bottles on April 19th!

Hop Stimulator is the natural evolution of our tap room classic, Small Axe Big IPA. We’ve seen what people like about Small Axe over the years (it’s insane drinkability compared to its high ABV, it’s balance of malt character and hop bitterness) and have built on that.

First, we’ve added a lot more hops, especially dry hops along with a new dry hopping technique, to create a far more intense tropical hop aroma. The hops in the beer include Cascade and Centennial (also in our classic IPA, Hop Gun) as well as Citra and Amarillo. You’ll taste passionfruit, grapefruit, pineapple, papaya, and even mango flavors in Hop Stimulator. We’ve also changed the yeast profiles to enhance the fruity nature of the hops an further the balance of the malt bill.

In short, Hop Stimulator is an intensely hoppy 9.5% IPA, but drinks like one that’s 6%. We’re super happy with the result.

The beer will be available in 12oz, four-pack bottles on April 19th at the brewery and retailers statewide, and will also be available on draft. We’re hosting a bunch of launch events at participating bars, restaurants, and craft beer retailers, and you can check out the full list here: http://ow.ly/10y1w4

Canopy Roads Brewing Company signs lease, looks forward

Tallahassee is well on its way to becoming the next in a line of strong brewing scenes in the state of Florida. To that end, future brewery Canopy Roads Brewing signed a lease and will get a location in the capitol city, coming soon.

From Canopy Roads Brewing:

Canopy Roads Brewing announces its lease signing with the Centre of Tallahassee (formerly the Tallahassee Mall). CRB will set up shop in a 5500’ space in the heart of the Centre’s Music Alley and will be flanked by The Pavilion (the Centre’s arena), Dreamland BBQ and the Urban Food Market (an Italian food experience). An early August opening is anticipated for The Taproom at CRB.

CRB will initially open as a craft beer bar while awaiting various permits. The Taproom at CRB will feature great craft beers from across the state of Florida (and beyond) and generate an awareness of the CRB brand and location. The Taproom at CRB will be an inviting spot for a pint and, once the brew house is functional, will offer a complete sensory brew experience.

The CRB brew house should be operational between late 2016 and early 2017 (depending upon our friends in federal government). CRB will operate a 2.5 barrel pilot system initially and eventually brew on a 15 barrel system. The brew house will be open air…no walls. Patrons will see, smell, hear, feel and, of course, taste the total beer experience.

Congrats to Canopy Roads on this first step into a wide world.

Grove Roots Brewing is coming to Winter Haven

Press Release:

Grove Roots Brewing Company, led by Winter Haven native Joseph Dunham, announced today its plans to open Winter Haven’s first craft beer brewery. Expanding on the success of the Tampa-St. Pete craft brew community, Grove Roots will celebrate the city’s strong connection to the citrus industry and contribute to the cultural revitalization of Winter Haven’s downtown. With plans to restore one of the city’s historic industrial buildings, the 15-barrel brewhouse and tasting room is set to open in mid-2016.

Inspired by his Winter Haven heritage and a passion for homebrewing, Dunham traded his job at an industrial engineering and construction firm to start Grove Roots. Witnessing the slew of upcoming development projects in his hometown, Dunham knew that downtown Winter Haven was the right place to realize Grove Roots’ mission to revive the region’s historic citrus culture through inventive, hand-crafted beer. “After a decade of traveling in other cities and visiting breweries, we decided to come back to our roots in Winter Haven and build a business structured around our great city and its rich history in the citrus industry,” said Dunham. Grove Roots plans to provide cooperation opportunities with local providers to showcase their products in specialty brews.

The 5,200 square-foot space will feature an 80-seat tasting room, 15-barrel production area, indoor stage and outdoor covered seating. Patrons will be able to enjoy local music and a first-hand look at the brewing process as they sample artisanal ales and lagers. Initially, Grove Roots will offer four flagship beers, four seasonal beers and a variety of special-release beers throughout the year. Grove Roots will make its first community appearance on March 5, 2015 as the sponsor of downtown’s Craft Beer Crawl hosted by Main Street Winter Haven.

About Grove Roots Brewing Company:

Grove Roots Brewing Company is a craft brewery located in Winter Haven, Florida. Dedicated to producing artisanal ales inspired by Florida’s citrus heritage and the surrounding community, Grove Roots aims to be recognized as the area’s signature brewery by locals and visitors alike. Opening in 2016, Grove Roots will be Winter Haven’s first craft brewery. For more information, please visit groveroots.com.
