Dogfish Head Punkin Ale 2024

Dogfish Head Punkin Ale Makes Autumnal Return with All-New Artwork

Press Release: With the official start of fall just around the corner, Dogfish Head unveils its list of seasonal drinks, beginning with the return of its iconic Punkin Ale! Back for the 30th consecutive year, Punkin Ale* (7.0% ABV) is a full-bodied brown ale brewed with real pumpkin, brown sugar, allspice, nutmeg and cinnamon. Bursting with notes of cinnamon spice and smooth pumpkin, this fall favorite is now available from coast to coast, both on draft and in 6pk/12oz cans.  Track some down using Dogfish Head’s Fish Finder.

Part of Dogfish Head’s Art Series, a yearly collection of four beers featuring artwork by a singular collaborating artist, this year’s Punkin Ale boasts illustrations by Methane Studios. Known for their hand-crafted, intensely detailed screen prints, Methane Studios is an Atlanta-based operation made up of beer-loving, Ohio native duo, Mark McDevitt and Robert Lee. Putting the “punk” back in “PUNKin,” Methane Studios’ interpretation of Punkin Ale’s label artwork centers on an edgy Jack O’Lantern-type character, complete with a full sleeve of tattoos and a black cat sidekick.

Dogfish Head Punkin Ale 2024“It’s hard to believe that I first brewed Punkin Ale more than 30 years ago, when it claimed first prize in the recipe contest at southern Delaware’s yearly Punkin Chunkin Extravaganza,” said Sam Calagione, Dogfish Head Founder & Brewer. “As our longest commercially distributed brew, it’s always heartwarming to see folks’ excitement for Punkin Ale’s annual return.”

The pumpkin-spiced goodness continues with Dogfish Head’s limited-edition Punkin Liqueur (30% ABV). Available in 375ml bottles, exclusively at Dogfish Head coastal Delaware locations, Punkin Liqueur starts its journey as Punkin Ale, which is then distilled and aged in used rum barrels to impart sweet notes of oak and molasses. The spirit is finished with a flush of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ginger, vanilla, brown sugar and a touch of sage, for a seasonal liqueur perfect for sipping on its own or in your favorite fall cocktail.

For fans of fall, but not pumpkin flavors, there’s no need to fret … Dogfish Head has you covered, too!  Just in time for the chillier weather ahead, Dogfish Head excitedly introduces a brand-new variation of its highly sought-after World Wide Stout. Brewed with a ridiculous amount of barley, World Wide Stout is a dark, rich and roasty Imperial Stout. This year’s iteration, Affogato World Wide Stout* (15.0% ABV), takes Dogfish Head’s beloved beer to the next level, with added notes of espresso and sweet vanilla for a liquid version of the well-known Italian treat. Available in select markets, where legal, in 4pk/12oz bottles.

Seeking a bit more variety? If so, Dogfish Head’s 12pk/12oz can Fall Variety Pack is a perfect pick, and it’s complete with an all-new variety pack-exclusive brew, Tasty Traveler Jasmine Rice Lager* (5.0% ABV). Tasty Traveler Jasmine Rice Lager is brewed with jasmine rice, lemongrass, wildflower honey and makrut lime leaf for a light, citrusy and refreshingly crisp beer. In addition to Tasty Traveler Jasmine Rice Lager, Dogfish Head’s Fall Variety Pack, which is now available nationwide, features three (12oz) cans of each of the following beers.

Dogfish Head Fall Variety Pack 2024

  • 60 Minute IPA* (6.0% ABV): Fantastically hoppy and beautifully balanced, 60 Minute IPA is continually hopped for 60 minutes for an enticing hop-centric experience.
  • SeaQuench Ale* (4.9% ABV): Uniquely refreshing, SeaQuench Ale is a wheat beer brewed with lime juice, lime peel, black limes and sea salt for a beer bursting with notes of tart citrus.
  • Blue Hen Pilsner* (4.8% ABV): Refreshingly crisp and super approachable, Blue Hen Pilsner is a classic pilsner brewed with Delaware grown and malted barley to deliver the ultimate sessionable drinking experience.

Dogfish Head Craft Brewery Unveils New Beer Packaging Artwork & Announces the Return of its Fan-Favorite 120 Minute IPA

The 120th day of the year (Monday, April 29) is upon us, and at Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, that’s considered a holiday! To celebrate “120 Day”, Dogfish Head announces the annual return of its fan-favorite 120 Minute IPA, and unveils its all-new beer packaging artwork, complete with brighter, more eye-catching graphics and a bigger, bolder “shark-and-shield” logo.

“Typically, the 120th day of the year means it’s time to crack a 120 Minute IPA and raise a glass to another year’s release of this beautiful beer,” said Sam Calagione, Dogfish Head Founder & Brewer. “This year, I get to do that AND commemorate the official launch of our all-new beer packaging artwork, which is finally rolling out to shelves nationwide. It’s been a long, but rewarding journey to get to this new look, so raising a fresh 120 Minute IPA sounds like the perfect celebration to me!”

Dogfish Head rebranded beers

After a more than year-long exploration of artistic goodness, Dogfish Head rolls out new beer packaging artwork for all its brews – from the iconic, continually hopped 60 Minute IPA to the paloma-inspired, beer-cocktail hybrid Citrus Squall, and everything in between. Feedback from fans informed the brand’s beer packaging redesign, which centered around three specific directives.

Lean into the brand’s nautical roots.
Drawing inspiration from the brand’s coastal Delaware birthplace, each Dogfish Head beer’s new label design is anchored with a singular, nautical-centric “hero” illustration – a sailboat, a lighthouse, a compass and more.

Lead with flavor.
Honoring Dogfish Head’s longtime commitment to brewing beers with unique culinary ingredients outside the Reinheitsgebot (the German purity law stating beer must only be brewed with water, hops, barley and yeast), each beer’s new label also features drawings of its ingredients. These drawings, coupled with two-word flavor descriptors, are intended to provide drinkers with clearer flavor expectations at shelf.

Give the shark room to swim.
Dogfish Head’s new beer packaging highlights an enlarged, black-and-white version of the brand’s original “shark-and-shield” logo from the 90s. This update allows the brand’s logo to stand out against its new, brighter-colored packaging, and ensures any thirsty souls traversing the craft beer isle can easily spot Dogfish Head’s products.

Just like Dogfish Head’s new beer packaging, its fan-favorite 120 Minute IPA is now making its way to shelves from coast-to-coast, where legal. An imperial IPA continuously hopped with a copious amount of high-alpha American hops throughout the boil and whirlpool, 120 Minute IPA is then dry-hopped with another boatload of hops to create what some call, “The Holy Grail for Hopheads!” Clocking in at 15.5% ABV, 120 Minute IPA is unfiltered, abundantly hoppy and perfect for cellaring. So, grab a 4pk/12oz bottles, crack one to toast the launch of Dogfish Head’s new beer packaging and put the rest away to enjoy later.

Funky Buddha and Delaware’s Dogfish Head celebrate collaboration

Press Release:

In celebration of our upcoming collaboration with Dogfish Head, we’ll be throwing an epic party on April 6th at 6pm called Nano-Nano Beer and Bites Pairing with Dogfish Head featuring Dogfish founder craft beer luminary, Sam Calagione! Yes, Sam will be here in town to party with us!

This event will be open to the public and begin at 6pm. Rolling Chefs, Chacos Chinese Tacos, and others will be offering a la cart pairings with Dogfish and Funky Buddha beers. Naturally, we’ll have plenty of special releases on tap including a vintage keg of Dogfish Head 2011 Black & Blue and a cask of 75 Minute IPA (a first in Florida)! Also expect a bevvy of special Funky Buddha draughts including the appearance of Barrel-Aged Morning Wood (Imperial Maple Bacon Coffee Porter aged in Heaven Hill barrels).

The Backstory:
Back in January of 2014, we collaborated with our friends from Dogfish Head on a beer for Boston’s Extreme Beer Fest. The beer we made was called Nano Nano, a name that celebrates the roots of both Dogfish Head and Funky Buddha Brewery as small, independent, nano breweries making beers mere gallons at a time. This imperial porter was brewed with cocoa, smoked habanero peppers, black strap molasses, and sea salt harvested from both the Florida and Delaware coasts. But because we only made five barrels of it, we were unable to bring any to Florida. So we set out to fix that!

Nano Nano is coming back! Dogfish Head will be joining us in the next few weeks to brew another batch of our Imperial Porter to be released in upcoming months throughout Florida.
