The epic ending of Tampa Bay Beer Week

Last year, 7venth Sun Brewing Company had an idea to host a festival at their place on Braodway in Dunedin featuring some new and rare beers not yet seen in Tampa Bay Beer Week. What started off as one brewery hosting one event to end the week of weeks for Florida beer has now transitioned to several events throughout the community of Dunedin.

What used to be simply “Hunahpu Hangover Day” is now “Tampa Bay Beer Week Wrap-Up in Downtown Dunedin.” Instead of one event, there will be multiple events, beginning with the three listed, one from Founders Brewing, one from Dunedin Brewery, and Hunahpu Hangover Day at 7venth Sun.

*Founders Brewing will host a beer brunch at the Dundedin Smokehouse.
*Dunedin Brewery will host a Nelson Sauvin hopped beer takeover.
*7venth Sun’s Hunahpu Hangover Day.
*Other events listed as they’re announced.

Dunedin Brewery travels to Denver to release collaboration

Like many other craft breweries around the country, Dunedin Brewery is traveling to Denver, Colorado this week. Many are going to mark and participate in the festivities of the Great American Beer Festival. Neither Dunedin Brewery nor their collaborator, Black Shirt Brewing is participating in the festival. They are going to celebrate the release of their collaboration beer: Sangre de la Carretera, a beer brewed on Dunedin’s mobile brewing system while they traveled cross-country on the “FLOregon Trail” to the Portland (Oregon) Brewer’s Festival.

What is Sangre de la Carretera? From the Dunedin Brewery event page:

Brewed with Grapefruit peel, Belgian yeast, & exotic hops–Sangre de la Carretera AKA the Blood of the Road represents everything we went through just to make this beer: 5 weeks of traveling through every type of landscape, every sort of weather & all of the emotions, hardships, & rewards… all found in a road trip.

Neither Dunedin Brewery or Black Shirt will be participating in the Great American Beer Fest, so this will be the place to try brews from both breweries in Denver, CO that weekend.

This beer will be released at Black Shirt Brewing in Denver on Friday, October 11th from 6-10pm.

Dunedin Brewery releases Mainline Porter

This morning, Friday, August 23rd, 2013, the Dunedin Brewery will release Mainline Porter, a 7.3% Imperial Porter. According to Dunedin Brewery General Manager Michael Lyn Bryant, “the thematic of the name has history with our recent trip across the country, as we constantly crossed tracks & drove alongside railways. We will also be releasing some variation on this porter in the future & will use the names of side tracks to distinguish them, such as a branchline or crossover.”

The brewery has also filled a Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrel to be bottled and released in collaboration with Leuken’s Liquors later this year.

About Dunedin Brewery:
Dunedin Brewery is Florida’s oldest microbrewery. Founded in 1996 in the artistic community of Dunedin, the Dunedin Brewery began as a place for brewer Michael Bryant to create and share his liquid creations. Dunedin brewery is now celebrating twelve years in its present location and pours seven year-round beers along with a new seasonal every month.

Earlier this year, Dunedin Brewery was invited to participate in the Oregon Brewers’ Festival and traveled cross-country in order to do so. Naming the trip “The Floregon Trail,” Dunedin Brewery posted pictures and thoughts on social media while they roamed. The folks at Dunedin brought a mobile brewery with them on the five-week roadtrip and brewed a collaboration beer in Denver on the way home. For more on their trip, see the Twitter hashtag #floregontrail.
