Brewers from around the world to converge on Saint Petersburg for The Festival

Press Release:

Brewers from around the world will converge on Saint Petersburg for Shelton Brothers’ The Festival.

The Festival, presented by Shelton Brothers, is an annual craft beer and cider festival in a different city every year, and this year we’re bringing it to the Tampa area. The craft beer scene in Florida — and specifically the Tampa/St. Pete area — is one of the best and most up-and-coming in the country, and we’re thrilled to be hosting our event there this year.

What: The Festival 2015
Where: The Coliseum in St. Pete, FL
When: October 16 & 17

We work with some of the smallest and most sought-after breweries in the world and in the U.S., including Cantillon and Drie Fonteinen in Belgium, Hill Farmstead in Vermont, Side Project in Missouri, and many, many more.

What makes our festival really unique is that all the brewers fly in from all over the U.S. and all over the world — from Europe to Japan to New Zealand — to pour their wares and talk about them to fest-goers. And we’ll have more than 90 breweries represented at this year’s fest.

We also love to showcase the best local breweries at each year’s “Moveable Fest,” and this year will include the very best from Florida, including Green Bench, Cycle Brewing, Cigar City, Funky Buddha, St. Somewhere, and more. The full list can be found here: http://sheltonbrothers.com/festival

We’ll have three sessions — one on Friday and two on Saturday — and each is four hours long. Tickets are $65 for a session or $175 for the entire weekend, and all drink pours are included in the price.

Fat Point Brewing Company: events and closer to opening

The folks at Fat Point Brewing Company, Punta Gorda’s future craft brewery, are pounding pavement to give people the good beer news that Punta Gorda will soon have a craft brewery. If that wasn’t reason enough for Southwest Florida celebration, then the upcoming preview events might be.

From Fat Point’s blog:

*After testing and cleaning all of next week, we’re brewing our first large scale batch on June 24th with successive brews each of the following two days. We’re going to brew 60BBLs that first week – or close to 2000 gallons of Fat Point beer.

*We worked with Executive Chef Jason Van Marter from Opus restuarant in Punta Gorda to plan our next event there. On June 29th, we’re going to have our Beer Brunch tasting including interesting twists on old favorites such as beer mimosas, micheladas (bloody beers), a Belgian strong ale and even a one-of-a-kind brew just for this event. Our team brewed a stout infused with cinnamon, allspice and coffee for this event!

*We hope to open our tap room in early August.

Southern Brewing to host art market

Southern Brewing & Winemaking is hosting a Summer Art Market to feature local art, crafts, food, music, and beer.

Southern Brewing & Winemaking (Southern) is hosting its first Summer Art Market on Sunday, May 25, from 12-5p. The market will take place in the Southern biergarten and adjacent lot.

The market will showcase 30 local artists that will have their work available for purchase. Artwork featured at the show includes paintings, jewelry, metal sculptures, baked goods, apparel, home décor, beauty products, photography, dry gardens and more.

Local musicians Fil Pate and 10th Concession will be playing in the biergarten during the event, and local vendors will have a wide variety of food available at the market. Guests will also be able to enjoy a variety of craft beer while browsing through the market.

“To us, a well made craft beer is a work of art, so it makes sense to pair that up with other art mediums,” stated Marketing Manager Cindy Lyons.
Southern is brewing a special event-themed beer that will be released at the market. The company has designed special glassware for the event as well, which will be for sale in the biergarten and will get attendees discounts on draught beers all day.

“I’ve had a vision of doing an event like this since we first moved to this location,” stated Kelly Fenstermacher, owner of Southern. “I’m excited to finally see it come to fruition. I love art, and as a small business owner, it’s important to me to promote other local small businesses whenever possible.”
