GrassLands Brewing Company Announces Future Location

Tallahassee brewery in-planning will join the newly revitalized Gaines Street District

GrassLands Brewing Company, a Tallahassee, FL brewery in-planning set to launch in Summer 2014, made its future site location public last week. GrassLands will call 603 West Gaines Street its home. As the first tenant in the building, GrassLands will initially operate in 5,000 sq/ft of space with room to expand as brewing capacity grows.

GrassLands Brewing Company is working with Architects Lewis & Whitlock to design the production floor and onsite taproom. Expected to launch with a 15-barrel production system and a 2-barrel pilot system, GrassLands will offer patrons a diverse selection of GrassLands beer for purchase at the taproom. The taproom itself will be complemented by a large, outdoor communal area with available seating and lounging space.

The brewery and taproom build-out will be part of an overall building makeover – transforming the existing warehouse space into the “Garages on Gaines” – meshing with the unique look and feel of the revitalized Gaines Street district. Construction is expected to begin next month.

GrassLands Brewing Company is a production brewery in planning, slated to launch in Summer 2014 and begin brewing by Fall 2014. Producing beer in a facility with an on- site taproom, GrassLands’ mission is to provide Tallahassee and Florida with outstanding, unique and innovative craft beers made with 100% natural malts, hops and adjuncts, sourcing local ingredients and recycled materials whenever and however possible in all facets of the brewery. GrassLands is committed to the local community, and animal welfare. The company slogan: “Earth First Ales” represents its commitment to the conservation and sustainability of declining animal habitats.

Gravity Brewlab making progress toward opening

Gravity Brewlab has been a solid fixture in the up-and-coming, ready-to-explode Miami craft beer scene. For several years now, owner Diego Ganoza has been pouring at festivals and working hard to open a location in Miami. Between red tape and building issues, Ganoza has been walking around Miami like the proverbial Goldilocks finding buildings that are “too big” or “too small” to host Gravity Brewlab.

Well, it looks like Diego has found the one that is “just right.”

According to an article in the Miami Herald, Gravity is very close to building its new home:

Ganoza said he is close to signing a lease on a warehouse space in the 2100 block of Northwest First Avenue in Wynwood for his brewery-and-beer-garden concept. Like the other newly opened breweries, Gravity won’t have a kitchen but will be food-truck friendly and will allow customers to bring in food.

This is a great feat for Ganoza who has “poured home-brewed Gravity samples for free at dozens of restaurants, food events and festivals. They do it to get Gravity’s name out there and build a fan base, but it doesn’t come cheap. Ganoza estimated he has spent about $40,000 of his money on ingredients, equipment and travel costs in that time.”

According to a recent conversation, Diego says he has his fingers crossed for an opening in the summer months of 2014. When opening in Wynwood, Gravity Brewlab would join the existing Wynwood Brewing and the two breweries currently in construction, J. Wakefield Brewing and Concrete Beach Brewing.
