Oyster City Brewing Company brews first batch

Oyster City Brewing Company, Apalachicola’s craft brewery has been in planning for a while, but on Monday May 12th, the brewy system was fired up and batch #1 (Mill Pond Dirty Blonde) was on its way to fruition.

Fitting that the Monday of American Craft Beer Week would see another Florida craft brewery come online.

Congratulations to Oyster City and this step in the creation of the brewery.

Point Ybel Brewing company brews first batches

Southwest Florida is a few steps closer to a new brewery on their doorstep. Point Ybel Brewing Company, a brewery opening in the Point Ybel area of Fort Myers has posted pictures to their Facebook page of beer-making activities at their facility. According to the pictures and posts, the efforts today are going toward brewing Sanibel Red, which according to Point Ybel’s website is a 5% red ale with “[t]oasted malts with a sweet and bready flavor. Has a low hop character. Brewed with local Mangrove honey. Easy to drink.”

While the folks at Point Ybel strayed away from giving an exact opening date, when a local beer enthusiast asked if they were still shooting for mid-October, the brewery responded with a response of “Soon!”
