Props Brewery announces major expansion

Props Brewery and Grille in Fort Walton Beach has been a solid member of Florida’s craft beer community and holding down the fort in one of Florida’s expanding craft beer markets.  Well now the aviation-themed craft brewery is talking about some major changes, according to a recent article in the Northwest Florida Daily News.

According to the article, Props patrons can expect serious growth from the small brewery.  With the help of a $150,000 grant from the University of West Florida Office of Economic Development and Engagement, the brewery will add a production facility in a local business park.  The facility has a tentative “soft opening” date of September 2016, with a taproom possibly open in October.  The owners say that the new facility, which will expand their production fourfold, “should be up and running by sometime in October.”  The expansion will come with the expected addition of a canning line, which will allow Props to put their popular Blonde Bomber Blonde Ale and Flying Coffin IPA in 12-ounce cans.

Props Brewery opened in 2011 while Florida’s craft beer and breweries were still gaining momentum.  Fort Walton Beach is an expanding market with the number of breweries growing steadily, but not at the dizzying pace other areas of the state are seeing.

Props Brewery is currently located at 255 Miracle Strip Parkway in Fort Walton Beach.

Props Brewery moves beer into barrels

Props Brewery and Grill of Fort Walton Beach in the panhandle has posted that some of their beers now have a new home: barrels that used to hold spirits from Six & Twenty Distillery of South Carolina.

From Props:

We are getting ready for Craft Beer week May 11 – 17. We got some whiskey barrels from the good people at Six & Twenty Distillery and we are currently aging our Flying Coffin, Prop Oil Porter and Twin Prop double IPA. These will be small batches but we are very excited to taste our beer married with the smoky taste of whiskey and oak. More info on Craft Beer week coming soon.

Much of the information on these beers is yet to come.

Props Craft Brewery makes first Christmas Ale

Props Craft Brewery in Fort Walton Beach is hard at work getting ready for the holidays. Like many Florida breweries, they know that Christmas in Florida is a bit warmer, and calls for ale as unique as the Southernmost State.

Mike and Tom our brewer are hard at work today making our Christmas Ale. This will be our first batch of this seasonal ale that uses over 6 quarts of honey. Now we are not trying to be like the radio station playing Christmas music in early November because it wont be ready for a few weeks. A growler of our Christmas ale would be a perfect stocking stuffer for any beer lover. Cheers !
