Grove Roots Brewing Company announces grand opening date

Press Release: Grove Roots Brewing Company, led by Winter Haven native Joseph Dunham, will be celebrating its grand opening on Saturday, September 17, 2016. The all-day event will run from 2pm to 11pm and feature live-bands, food trucks and—of course—lots of freshly brewed Grove Roots beer.

Grove Roots Brewing GlassInspired by his Winter Haven heritage and a passion for homebrewing, Dunham began realizing his Grove Roots vision in 2015. Driven by a mission to revive the region’s historic citrus culture, Dunham has partnered with local growers to create inventive, artisanal beers that celebrate and support our deep-rooted relationship with the citrus industry. In addition to a variety of seasonal and special-release brews, Grove Roots will serve four flagship beers year-round: Slanted Ladders, a white pale ale; Wakes of Grain, an amber ale; Rind & Shine, a citrus witbier; and 6am Pickers, a breakfast coffee stout. All signature flagships as well as a seasonal Oktoberfest, pumpkin ale and other limited-edition brews will be available at the grand opening. “We’re very excited to share our passion for craft beer with the rest of the community,” says founder Joe Dunham.

Located at 302 3rd Street SW in downtown Winter Haven, the 5,600-square-foot brewery features a 100-seat tasting room, 10-barrel brew house and a dog-friendly outdoor biergarten where patrons can enjoy food trucks, lawn games and more. Guests can expect live music every Friday and Saturday night as well a series of regular events co-sponsored by other members of the community.

“Our vision is to be a community- and family-centric hangout in the downtown corridor,” says Dunham. “We hope everyone will join us in celebrating Winter Haven’s heritage with one of our locally produced beers, play yard games, listen to music and enjoy all that we have to offer.”

Regular hours for the tasting room will be Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4pm – 11pm, Fridays from 4pm – 12am, Saturdays from 12pm – 12am and Sundays from 12pm – 7pm. Brewery tours available upon request.

Grove Roots Brewing is coming to Winter Haven

Commercial real estate developer Six/Ten, LLC has completed a lease to pave the way for Winter Haven’s first craft beer brewery, Grove Roots Brewery (GRB). Six/Ten has begun renovating and restoring a 5,700 square-foot historic, industrial building to house the craft brewery production area, 100-seat tasting room, indoor stage and an outdoor beer garden. GRB is expected to open by mid 2016 at 300 Third Street S.W. in Downtown Winter Haven.

“We are excited about being a part of the rebirth of Downtown Winter Haven and want to help shape the vision,” said Joseph Dunham, creator of GRB. “As a Winter Haven native, I have great pride in our city and am excited to help make downtown the place to be.”

Dunham, who has always had a passion for home brewing, traded his job at an industrial engineering and construction firm to start GRB. He believes the brewery will celebrate the city’s strong connection to the citrus industry and contribute to the cultural revitalization of Winter Haven’s Downtown region.

“GRB will provide a community space where patrons are immersed in Winter Haven’s downtown culture, music, seasonal festivals, and taproom events,” said Dunham. “Our tasting room will let customers enjoy our artisanal ales while viewing the production process.”

For the past few years, Six/Ten has purchased, renovated and restored several downtown buildings in an effort to help bring new retail, restaurants and professionals to the area.

“We are all very excited to be a part of the city’s first craft brewery, and can feel a shared excitement among local residents,” said Six/Ten President Kerry Wilson. “Grove Roots will be an excellent addition to the growing number of dining and entertainment options in the redeveloping downtown core.
