LauderAle Brewery is now open to the public

South Florida’s LauderAle Brewery has announced opening before. According to an article from drinklikealocal.com, LauderAle had a plan to open back in July with a soft opening for friends and then to the general public. The public response was so overwhelming that they had to shut down and buy additional fermenters to properly slake South Florida’s thirst.

Well, that time has now come. LauderAle is open and ready to meet their local fans. But that’s not all; LauderAle is also shopping around for a bigger system so that they are prepared to meet larger demand in the future.

LauderAle is located at 3305 Southeast 14th Avenue Building 4 in Fort Lauderdale.

LauderAle opens its doors in Fort Lauderdale

Florida gained another star in the craft brewery sky this weekend. The area surrounding Miami has numerous breweries in planning and in various stages of opening, and the folks at LauderAle have realized their vision.

LauderAle is the culmination of work from real estate broker Kyle Jones and naval salvage architect Joey Farrell who dreamed up the vision of a brewery and began homebrewing about 18 months before LauderAle became a reality according to a recent article in the Sun-Sentinel. After recipe testing and feedback from Fort Lauderdale Area Brewers homebrew club and several certified beer judges, the duo felt strongly about their recipes, invested about $100,000 in their brewing equipment and worked toward this opening day.

LauderAle officially opened its doors on Thursday, July 24th from their facility located at 3305 Southeast 14th Avenue near Port Everglades. They plan to produce about 500 gallons of beer per month. An official “grand opening” is in the works.

As a note, the brewery has posted on its Facebook page that the facility would be closed on July 27th with no update on hours.

Fort Lauderdale residents looking to brew LauderAle

Fort Lauderdale has many choices of local beers to call their own. Residents Kyle Jones and Joe Farrell see a different problem, though, as Fort Lauderdale does not have a brewery in its city limits. Many breweries in South Florida are close to Fort Lauderdale, and serve the area, but none can yet claim to brew for the city in the city.

LauderAle is seeking to change that. LauderAle is planning to start off small (on a one-barrel brewing system), and grow organically after that.

According to an article in the Broward New Times:

Jones said the brewery should be functional in about a month, and he hopes to be open to the public sometime in the late spring or early summer.

Over the past year, Jones and Farrell have been perfecting their recipes and will have a saison, an American pale ale, an IPA, and a coffee porter — a favorite among fans — as their flagship brews. They haven’t trademarked the names yet, however.

South Florida is on the cusp of an eruption of new breweries in the coming years, with over a dozen breweries in the planning stages looking to open in the next 1-2 years.
