About the beers:

Hourglass Brewery La Fee Dragee

La Fée Dragée is a 11.3% ABV Belgian Christmas Ale aged in rum barrels. This holiday beer includes a bevy of delicious dried fruits and spices and bursts with tasting notes of apricots, plums, and Turkish figs. This rich and dark ale is spiced with freshly grated nutmeg, allspice berries, ginger, and sweet orange peel to conjure up the holiday spirit.

Hourglass Brewery Auld Clootie

Auld Clootie is a 12.2% ABV old ale brewed with copious amounts of barley and a touch of brown sugar that is then fermented with a blend of traditional English and Sherry yeasts. Auld Clootie was split between bourbon and wine barrels and blended back together. The result is a rich and smooth brew with fruity esters that finishes with notes of bourbon, vanilla, and oak.

The Hourglass Brewery is located at 480 South Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Longwood.

Due South Brewing of Boynton Beach will mark November with the release of several beers into distribution.

Press Release: November sees the release of a couple of sought-after beers for Due South. First, the release of Maple Orange Imperial Caramel Cream Ale, our winter seasonal for 2016-2017. It begins with a base of Imperial Caramel Cream Ale with which we add orange and maple. The beer will be available on draft and in 12 ounce cans in both our taproom and in distribution.

Next, we are putting the finishing touches on Mexican Standoff, an incredibly complex porter filled with chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla bean, and chili peppers. It’s rich, spiced, and full of tingly heat. We made a special limited batch of this highly requested beer, so look for this one to be available in our taproom and in crowlers to-go.

In addition, we have a new beer that will soon see wide distribution: Citrafied, a Citra hop heavy American pale ale that sits at 5.1% ABV. It’s light, refreshing, and displays some amazing tropical fruit aromas. We are bringing this one out in stages, with a taproom draft release today, followed by distribution in both kegs and 12 ounce cans by the end of November.

Finally, November is Caramel Cream Month, where we will be highlighting our classic and best-selling beer. If you haven’t tried a Caramel Cream Ale lately, you should. We will be having special tasting events at select retailers throughout the month, check for details.

Alpine Beer Company

On heels of GABF win, Alpine Beer Company announces new beers for 2017

Press Release: Alpine Beer Company is celebrating Great American Beer Festival with a bronze medal win for “HFS” – in the American Strong Pale Ale category. A hometown fan-favorite, this beer is one of the the San Diego county-based craft brewer’s tasting room-only releases, produced on draft and in extremely limited bottled batches from their brewhouse in Alpine, CA. In spite of the beer’s huge success and medal win, the brewery does not currently have plans to distribute the beer beyond the tasting room in 2017 due to its high production cost and hard-to-find ingredient list. Instead, Alpine Beer Company is focused on finalizing their expanded national release calendar for 2017, which features two equally in-demand offerings, Windows Up IPA and Bus Ride Pale Ale, and plans to expand selections of their packaged offerings into 12oz cans for the first time in the brand’s 17-year history.

“We were excited to earn a medal for HFS,” says Alpine Head Brewer, Shawn McIlhenney. “This beer has been a favorite in the tasting room, and it’s rewarding to have one of our relatively new and limited release beers get some recognition. While it is not being brewed for broad release, we plan to continue to brew it and release it in the tasting room from time to time, in bottles and on draft. Our tasting room has always been ground zero – and the best way for us to immediately gauge the success of our newest beers. It is awesome that at least two of these extremely well-received test-batch beers will release nationally next year.”

Next year, Alpine Beer Company will continue to nationally release front line best sellers including Duet IPA, Hoppy Birthday Session IPA, Willy Vanilly American Wheat Ale with Vanilla, and Mandarin Nectar orange Blossom Honey Ale with Orange Zest and Coriander as well as their annual November release of Pure Hoppiness Double IPA. The brewer will add at least two completely new beers to their national packaged lineup – with plans to release canned beer for the first time in their history. Windows Up – an American IPA – will be available in 12oz bottle six-packs as early as Q1 2017. Also joining the Alpine front line is Bus Ride, a Columbus Hopped Pale Ale. Bus Ride will available in Q2, and will debut as the first Alpine beer available in 12oz cans. The brewery will add at least one more beer to release as part of their 2017 lineup, however this final addition is still being finalized.

As far as other experimental “tasting room only” releases are concerned, Shawn prefers not to adhere to a firm release calendar, saying, “There is no concrete plan for small bottle releases from Alpine in 2017, some possibilities would include favorites like Exponential Hoppiness, Bad Boy IPA, and just maybe another barrel-aged sour.”

Alpine Beer Company adds this bronze win for HFS to their growing collection of GABF medals. In 2003, the brewery brought home the bronze for Mandarin Nectar and in 2013, earned a silver for McIlhenney’s Irish Red in 2004. In 2012, Duet IPA racked a bronze in the competitive American IPA category.

Saint Arnold Brewing introduces two new beers to cans

Press Release: With sales of its canned beers doubling during the past six months, Saint Arnold Brewing Co. (www.saintarnold.com), the oldest craft brewery in Texas, is expanding its canning program to include two additional year-round brews. Six-packs of 12-ounce cans of Saint Arnold Weedwacker and four-packs of 12-ounce cans of Saint Arnold Endeavour Double IPA are arriving in stores this week.

Saint Arnold introduced cans about 18 months ago with its top selling year-round beers, Saint Arnold Fancy Lawnmower Beer and Santo joining the Houston brewery’s rotating seasonals. When Saint Arnold introduced Art Car IPA and Saint Arnold 5 O’Clock Pils last year, both were launched in cans rather than bottles. During the past six months, Saint Arnold’s canned beer sales have jumped 110 percent, with cans making up nearly one third of Saint Arnold’s total packaged beer sales.

“There are a lot of things to like about cans – they are easy to carry to the beach and the pool, won’t break, they protect beer from light and are easy to recycle,” said Brock Wagner. “I have to admit that I used to be among those who viewed craft beer in cans with some skepticism, but the level of community acceptance and enthusiasm for cans has made a believer out of me.”

Also arriving in stores, restaurants and pubs throughout Texas, Louisiana and Florida are cans of Saint Arnold Oktoberfest, which is replacing dwindling supplies of Saint Arnold Summer Pils. Each of the new cans features the updated and refreshed Saint Arnold label art introduced earlier this summer.

Saint Arnold Weedwacker has won a medal at the Great American Beer Festival in the German-Style Wheat Ale category for the past three years running – including a Gold Medal in 2015. Saint Arnold Endeavour Double IPA was originally brought to market as Saint Arnold Divine Reserve No. 11. It won the Silver Medal in the highly competitive Imperial IPA category at the 2012 World Beer Cup. Saint Arnold Oktoberfest is a 3-time medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival in the Scottish-Style Ale category.

The new cans of Saint Arnold Weedwacker and Saint Arnold Endeavour Double IPA will phase out 12-ounce bottles. Endeavour will still be available in 22-ounce bottles and both beers will still be available on tap.
