Props Brewery moves beer into barrels

Props Brewery and Grill of Fort Walton Beach in the panhandle has posted that some of their beers now have a new home: barrels that used to hold spirits from Six & Twenty Distillery of South Carolina.

From Props:

We are getting ready for Craft Beer week May 11 – 17. We got some whiskey barrels from the good people at Six & Twenty Distillery and we are currently aging our Flying Coffin, Prop Oil Porter and Twin Prop double IPA. These will be small batches but we are very excited to taste our beer married with the smoky taste of whiskey and oak. More info on Craft Beer week coming soon.

Much of the information on these beers is yet to come.

SaltWater Brewery’s upcoming releases

Last week, SaltWater Brewery hinted at a few upcoming releases, this week, from co-owner and brewer Dustin Jeffers.

From SaltWater’s newsletter:

*Black Current returns this week! We will be publicly releasing this beer on Thursday April 2 starting at noon. However, if you want to try some a little earlier, come in Wednesday from 10-11 PM. We will be pouring The Black Current during the airing of Brew Dogs’ season premier.

*Every week we will have a special beer tapped during the episode leading up to the Miami episode that we are in on May 20th! Come watch the episode with us on Wednesday and ask us any questions you have about The Black Current or beer in general.

*Also, releasing on Thursday is Double Barreled Belgian Dubbel. This is our Belgian Dubbel aged in Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. We blended both styles together for our biggest barrel release so far!

*Next week we will be releasing our collaboration beer with Terrapin Beer Co. Spike came down from Athens and we brewed a Black India Rye Ale. All we can say about this beer is its dark and dank.

New beers and an old favorite at SaltWater Brewery

SaltWater Brewery has released a few gems of information in their latest newsletter. The Delray Beach craft brewery has some fan favorite beers and a new collaboration fermenting away.

From the SaltWater Brewery newsletter:

*Black Current is almost back! We will be releasing this seasonal favorite on April 2nd.

*We also just finished our collaboration with Terrapin Beer Co. out of Athens, Georgia. We made a Black Rye IPA, that uses both of our house yeast strains, 50/50 English and US malts, and all English hops in the boil, and all US hops for the dry hop. This beer is fermenting nicely and is almost done.

*We also have something special aging in our barrels. Expect a double wine barreled beer, and another wild ale in the near future.

*We have a limited amount of Vanilla Oak Aged 1/6 left for sale. They are $120 for the beer and a $100 deposit for the keg shell.

Magic Hat to send three new beers to Florida

Press Release:

Magic Hat Brewing Company recently released Big Hundo IPA – a hophead’s dream – outside of Vermont for the first time ever. A beloved beer bursting with huge hop presence, Big Hundo tips the scales at the absolute peak of bitterness with 100 IBUs. Dry hopped with Simcoe, it gives off a heady hop aroma and is accompanied by a flattering dark golden body. Big Hundo has an ABV of 9.0%.

“When we brewed Big Hundo, we wanted to create a really big, bold IPA that hoppy beer drinkers would love,” said Chris Rockwood, Head Brewer, Magic Hat. “We combined a variety of hops to create big citrus and pine flavors, balanced by some malt sweetness and just a hint of alcohol warmth on the backend. We’re really excited that more beer drinkers will have the opportunity to try it.”

Previously, this bold, small-batch beer was only available on draft at select bars and restaurants in Vermont. Due to popular demand, Big Hundo will now be available in 22 oz. bottles at select retailers and bottle shops, as well as on draft at top beer bars across the country.

A Summer Fling…with a Zing!
Looking for a lively love affair this summer? Magic Hat’s new summer seasonal Stealin’ Time will hit stores in April. This crisp beer has a light malt sweetness, balanced by hops and a pinch of ginger. With an ABV of 5.5%, this refreshing wheat ale is the perfect summer beer.

Stealin’ Time will be sold at various grocery and convenient stores in 6-packs and 12-packs, 12 oz. bottles, as well as on draft at select bars and restaurants across the country.

Turn on. Hop in. Take off.
Released last year, Magic Hat’s Dream Machine IPL has been delighting craft beer drinkers with its new, emerging style – a combination of an India Pale Ale and an Amber Lager. With an ABV of 5.7%, Dream Machine combines the fresh, bold and slightly spicy hop flavors of an IPA with the crisp, clean finish of a lager.

Until now, Dream Machine IPL has only been available on draft and in bottles. Beginning this May, it will be available in cans for a limited time. The cans will be sold in 12-packs at select grocery and convenience stores across the country.

Pair O Dice Brewing to release the Hop Streak series

Pair O’ Dice Brewing Co. is releasing a new limited beer series focused
on hop forward ales and lagers. The Hop Streak series is designed to allow Floridians to enjoy hop forward beers as they were intended to be enjoyed: Bright, Aromatic, Balanced, and FRESH. Every month Pair O’ Dice Brewing will release into distribution a new beer in the series. The high frequency, single batch, hop forward beer series encourages distributors, retailers, and consumers to drink hoppy beers at their freshest.

“Ken and I really enjoy hop forward beers. We brew them at Pair O’ Dice because we want to brew them, not because we have to brew them. IPAs are getting a bad rap these days and we want to remind the craft beer consumers why these hop forward beers became one of the top selling beer styles in America’s craft beer culture. They can be beautifully balanced, aromatic, and even refreshing when the beer is artfully designed and enjoyed fresh,” explains Pair O’ Dice Co-founder, Julia Rosenthal. “The Hop Streak series is a venue for us to show our passion for recipe creation and balancing those hop flavors
and aromas to make a truly beautiful beer.”

The Let It Rye’d IPA is the first beer in the series. Bursting with Mosaic hops with a well-rounded medium body that is accented by a nice, spicy, dry rye character, it weighs in at 7.4% ABV and 70 IBUs. The Let It Rye’d IPA was released to Tampa Bay distributors on January 15th and will be followed by The Pit Boss Triple IPA and The Stickman Double IPA in the coming months.

Veterans United Craft Brewery’s new and upcoming beers

Jacksonville’s Veterans United Craft Brewery has posted a few beers on the horizon.

From the Veterans United newsletter:

We are already crafting some of the brews on the horizon… we mashed in our Cup O’ Joe Oatmeal Espresso Stout to be released in a couple weeks. This aromatic and tasty beer will have a smooth and intense flavor from superbly-roasted beans provided by local coffee experts, Bold Bean Coffee Roasters.

Check our calendar for the upcoming tappings of our Rye Pale Ale; a Smoked Imperial Porter; and the return of Cocoa Jack Stout (Joe’s fugacious brother).

In addition to the release of our HopBanshee IPA in cans in December, we are happy to report that we will be canning our Raging Blonde Ale later this week, with distribution to immediately follow in January.
