Lagerhaus to release 44 Magnum

Lagerhaus, Pinellas County’s German-themed brewpub, puts unique house beers on tap all of the time. This Saturday, however, the brewpub will tap a very unique (and notably strong) beer for the first time in a while.

From Lagerhaus’s newsletter:

One of the handful of strongest (fermented***) beers in the world, the 44 MAGNUM’S 44 proof (22% ABV) is not only what is really impressive about this Ale. Its is the complexity and flavor explosion in your mouth what makes this beer putting you into a state of pleasure.
It took one year of fermenting and 2 years of aging in barrels,
to get being ready as Nectar for Zeus, and of course for YOU!

Lagerhaus is located at 3438 East Lake Business (East Lake Rd. South) in Palm Harbor.

Pinellas County changes zoning laws to help encourage brewery growth

Pinellas County is already home to some very tasty beer, and on Tuesday the County Comission looked to build a more welcoming environment for craft breweries and tasting rooms:

On Tuesday, the County Commission voted to allow businesses zoned as “light manufacturing” to sell alcohol, a rule change that takes effect immediately. While there’s no telling if the move will inspire an influx of independent breweries, county officials are hopeful.

John Cuevas, the county’s zoning manager, said that in the last month he’s received more phone calls from interested brewers than ever before.

“The craft beer industry is picking up around here and our code is accommodating that,” he said.
