Hopped on the High Seas: Citra arrives

Cigar City Brewing’s Hopped on the High Seas series of beers began with the much-loved Simcoe hops, the second edition brought citrusy Ahtanum hops, and the third edition has arrived showcasing the tropical-fruit and citrus Citra hop.

Hopped on the High Seas returns

Tampa- Cigar City’s Caribbean IPA, Hopped on the High Seas premiered its first batch not too long ago showcasing Simcoe hops in a silver can. Well, the hop boat has dropped anchor in Tampa Bay again, and it looks like the next incarnation of this beer is about to be released. This go-round Tampa’s craft brewery has hopped this beer with Ahtanum hops.

Look at what arrived this morning, a big tank full of beer brewed in Puerto Rico. That’s right, the next batch of Hopped on the High Seas Caribbean-style IPA is here and we will can it later this week!

For the second batch of Hopped on the High Seas, we hopped it exclusively with Ahtanum, one of our favorite hops. Ahtanum has citrus and floral notes and a fairly prominent grapefruit character as well.

Look for Hopped on the High Seas to be released in cans shortly, since IPAs are best enjoyed fresh.

Cigar City takes to the high seas once more

Puerto Rico- Cigar City Brewing is not simply resting on its laurels enjoying the success of their recent launch of Dry-Hopped on the High Seas. According to a photo that Cigar City recently posted, Head Brewer Wayne Wambles is at it again. Wayne has again traveled to Ponce, Perto Rico, and he is working on another batch. Last time the brewery used all Simcoe hops, this time they intend to use “something completely different.”
