Saltwater Brewery, Barrel of Monks Brewing, and 3 Sons Brewing collaborate on beers for Publix dinner series

Recently, 3 Sons Brewing, Saltwater Brewery, and Barrel of Monks Brewing announced that their three breweries were collaborating on a beer called “Lime in the CocoMonk.”  When we reached out to Saltwater Brewery for more information, Director of Operations Dustin Jeffers said that the collaboration on this beer went deeper than just one beer – there would be a series of beers that the breweries worked on in order to launch them at two Publix Aprons beer dinners in South Florida.

“We did a collab at Barrel of Monks with 3 Son’s for an upcoming Publix Apron dinner series.  It is called Lime in the CocoMonk, and is going to be a 7% Saison with coconut, lime, and dry-hopped with Sabro hop (gives off similar flavors).  It will be bottle conditioned in 750s and on draft.  Idea is to have the flavors there, but not over the top because it is meant to pair with food.  The dinners are on Friday August 30th at the Boca Raton Publix Apron and Saturday August 31st at the Plantation Apron store.  Here is the info on the dinner:

Saltwater Brewery welcomes new head brewer

Press Release: Saltwater Brewery, a Florida-based microbrewery known for the Edible Six Pack Rings, announced an extension to their brewing team with the hiring of Justin Rick, previous Senior Brewer at Brooklyn Brewery.

Justin graduated from the Master Brewers Program at UC Davis in 2008, and over the past eight years has held top brewing positions at Stone Brewing, Leinenkugel and Brooklyn Brewery. Following the success of the Edible Can Ring viral video, Justin will continue the momentum as Saltwater’s new Head of Brewing. Since the beginning of June, he has helped to standardize procedures, improve safety, streamline operations, grow the Beer Lab, and just brewed the brewery’s 250th batch of beer. Dustin Jeffers will continue to manage recipe formulation and serves as Saltwater’s Director of Operations.

“We’re excited to have such a seasoned and talented Brewer,” said Jeffers. “His hands-on, senior-level experience with large breweries is unmatched and will be instrumental to helping Saltwater grow and improve.”

Justin’s hiring ushers in a third canned beer for the company, LocAle. A crisp, refreshing, golden ale with 3.7 percent ALC/VOL, LocAle is the ideal all-day drinking beer to enjoy at your favorite local event or activity. Cans have been available in the Tasting Room since the beginning of September, and are now available throughout Saltwater’s Florida-only distribution territory. The brewery’s canned beer offerings now include Screamin’ Reels IPA, Sea Cow Milk Stout, and LocAle Golden Ale.

About Saltwater Brewery
Founded in December 2013 by a team of Floridians, Saltwater Brewery is Delray Beach’s first local production microbrewery, with tasting room and beer garden on sight. Using only pure and natural ingredients, each style of handcrafted beer and corresponding name is inspired by the ocean to reflect the lifestyle and passion of the Founders. Saltwater’s goal is to maintain the world’s greatest wonder by giving back through ocean based charities (CCA, Surfrider, Ocean Foundation, MOTE) and the Edible Six Pack Rings. Over 12 styles are typically available in the tasting room, while Screamin’ Reels IPA, Sea Cow Milk Stout and LocAle, are distributed in cans and on tap throughout the state of Florida. Packaging is done on-site with the brewery’s in-house canning line, and the team will soon install an in-line labeler for seasonal and special releases.

Saltwater Brewery of Delray Beach has been receiving a lot of press for the edible sixpack rings they are rolling out.  Saltwater’s year-round offerings have been anchored by Screamin’ Reels IPA and Sea Cow Milk Stout, but soon there will be a third ale in the core offerings, making this a trinity: LocAle Session Ale.  Clocking in at 4.7% alcohol, LocAle is a lighter ale and will pair well with the hot outdoor Florida season.

From Saltwater Brewery:

We’ve officially launched our THIRD canned beer…LocAle! 3.7%, and super light and refreshing, LocAle is an all-day drinking beer, perfect for the boat, beach, golf course, or wherever the Florida lifestyle takes you! SaltWater Brewery is canning Sea Cow Milk Stout

SaltWater Brewery of Boca Raton is making strides in their beer program–when they started out, the brewery was draft only (only on draft and available in kegs). The brewery then announced the availability of Screamin’ Reels IPA, and now, (as of February 23rd, 2016), SaltWater Brewery has announced the availability of Sea Cow Milk Stout in cans around South Florida.

From SaltWater Brewery:

IT’S HERE!! Your favorite local Milk Stout is now available in A CAN! We are so excited to announce that as of today, you can pick up 6 packs of this delicious Stout right here in our Tasting Room. One of the only Milk Stouts available in a can, Sea Cow is dark, roasty and sweet, with 6% alc/vol, and is balanced by sweetness from the lactose sugar used in the boil.

Named after our native Florida Manatee, the “Sea Cow”, who mainly resides in the murky brackish waters of Florida, this beer is smooth and full bodied, like the Sea Cow himself!

Now that you can keep this beer in your fridge, try pairing it with a hearty dinner or chocolatey dessert…or both! Tag us in photos of you enjoying your Milk Stout in a can and we’ll repost the best ones.

Sea Cow Milk Stout will be available at local and major beer retailers throughout South Florida by next week.

SaltWater Brewery is located at 1701 West Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach. Look for canned Sea Cow Milk Stout around the South Florida marketplace.
