Whether visiting for the NFL’s biggest game in February 2021 or simply a long weekend, Tampa Bay is home to some of the most highly-regarded breweries in the craft beer world.
Coppertail Brewing Co. is celebrating their 6 year anniversary with a crowdsourced mixed 4-pack of Hop Skull IPAs.
A little over a month ago, fans were asked to vote for their favorites of the Hop Skull Series and the top three would end up being re-brewed and released as part of an assorted 4-pack. The fourth beer in the 4-pack will be the Sixth Anniversary Hop Skull Triple IPA. This hazy IPA comes in at 10.5% and features Chinook, Citra, Loral, and Bravo Hops with their house haze strain. This beer has huge notes of citrus, apricot, and pineapple with a sizable malt backbone to make it the “juiciest” IPA they have ever made. The three winners of the voting contest were Hop Skulls #3, #5, and #11, all hazy IPAs.
“It feels great when you hit those milestones and the whole team wants to get together and celebrate,” says Kent Bailey, President at Coppertail, “This is the best way we could think of to celebrate that milestone and still keep everyone involved.”
The Anniversary beers will be released on Friday, August 28th at Coppertail’s Ybor City location tasting room ONLY in a mixed 4-pack and on draft. Anniversary Hop Skull Triple IPA will also be available in a stand-alone 4-pack. Commemorative shirts and glassware are available for purchase as well as a Gift Pack containing a shirt, 2 glasses, a mixed 4-pack and 2 free beer tokens.

Tampa Bay Brewing Company of Ybor City and Tampa (Westchase) is announcing the return of two favorites and one new collaboration in their latest newsletter.
Oktoberfest This beer is the “sleeper” in our entire portfolio. Our brewers love it, loyal patrons look forward to it, and the cult following seems to grow each year. A traditional German Märzen Lager, coppery red with just the right amount of sweetness. Brewed as it should be using a single decoction mash which helps extract more flavor, color, and sugars from the grain. Just 30 cases of 4-packs are available and a smattering will hit stores. For the semi-professional race car drivers in town, a limited number of 1/6 BBL kegs are available at Westchase for purchase.
Gourds Gone Wild our fall pumpkin spice ale is now on store shelves and in our taprooms. We increased the total production this year as demand has been insane, but do not expect to find it everywhere and within just 6 weeks it will be gone until The Great Pumpkin rises again in 2020. Each year we tweak the recipe slightly and this year is no different. The result is rich, smooth and well balanced. It’s not a spice bomb, nor overly sweet. There’s a solid bready (perhaps even crusty) body with just the right amount of spice to offset a pleasant dollop of vanilla. 6.0% ABV.
Boyz n Berry Muff-n, brewed in collaboration with Tarpon River Brewing of Ft. Lauderdale… So, this is what it looks like when you cram a couple hundred pounds of fresh boysenberries and spices into a can… This tasty Imperial Berliner (8% ABV) is our next small batch release. A very limited number of cases will be available at our taprooms along with draft. Stay tuned to our social feeds for details on when you should setup your tent and camp-out overnight to get your paws on this one.

About Cigar City Brewing
Cigar City Brewing, makers of Jai Alai and Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout, was founded in 2009 by Joey Redner with the goal of creating quality beer that reflected the flavors and history of the Tampa region. This unique perspective resonated with the local and national markets alike and the brewery has quickly grown from 1,000 barrels of beer in 2009 to an excess of 65,000 barrels produced in 2016. The 2016 partnership with Oskar Blues of Lyons, Colorado ushered in a new era of growth for this Florida-based organization, with new markets and technologies on the horizon.
Tampa- Of the many new breweries looking to join Florida’s Class of 2013, Coppertail Brewing of Tampa has announced hirings in several key positions and progress towards opening their doors. On Tuesday, brewery Vice President Robb Larson posted on the brewery blog:
Two new employees will officially be joining us starting in July… Casey Hughes, our brewmaster extraordinaire, will be moving down… and Dave Iwansky, our new money and finance guy, is already on his way from Virginia.
Coppertail also announced a small setback as their warehouse cleaning damaged their fire panel. For more information on their progress toward opening, see the Coppertail blog or Facebook page.
About Coppertail Brewing
Coppertail is a sea monster that lives in Tampa Bay. I know this because my 5-year old daughter told me about it. Somehow, though, it seems like the perfect name for this brewery.
Coppertail is the strange and fantastic that lurks beneath Tampa Bay. Coppertail is dreaming of the impossible. Kind of like the craft brewing industry going up against the giant mega-brewers. Or like a home-brewer putting everything on the line to start a brewery.
We believe in Coppertail.
