Victory Brewing Company starts 2017 extra sour

Victory Brewing Company (Victory) announces the arrival of Sour Monkey in a new format in January – just in time to celebrate the season. As part of the celebration, the beloved national brewery is also introducing an extremely limited run of their new Sour Monkey Remix.

Sour Monkey, the tastefully tart twist on Victory’s most popular beer–the Belgian-style tripel Golden Monkey made its debut in Spring 2015 and has since become equally popular and in-demand. The sour, Brettanomyces-fermented tripel combines juicy Tettnang and Hallertau whole flower hops with Pilsner malt and coriander seed before adding the fun and funk of the secondary fermentation with two strains of Brettanomyces yeast. Sour Monkey delighted fans of Golden Monkey and sour beer lovers for the short time it was available. Because of its popularity, Victory brought Sour Monkey back in 2016, but only for a season and only in 750 ml bottles. 2017 marks the first time for Sour Monkey’s availability in 12 oz. bottles. Rest assured, it will carry the same sour punch with an ABV of 9.5% to keep the party going. Available throughout Victory’s 35 state distribution footprint, Sour Monkey six packs retail at $11.99, depending on location.

Victory Brewing introduces Vital IPA to Florida

Press Release: Victory Brewing Company (Victory) introduces Vital IPA in 12 oz. bottles in six and twelve packs with a new social media campaign to celebrate the spirit of ‘Vital.’ Fans of Victory will share photos of themselves enjoying the fresh, crisp and complex brew while pursuing their favorite summertime activities – whether lounging on a hammock, cooling off from a bike ride, or enjoying a backyard barbeque, Vital IPA is #VitalToWhereYouAre. Throughout the next two months, select hashtag users will be awarded Victory swag such as t-shirts and Koozies

Available year-round, Vital IPA is bright and aromatic, packed with American Simcoe, Chinook and Citra hops and clean German malts. The result is a light-bodied, golden IPA with rich aromas of pine, tropical fruits and stone fruits. Vital IPA has a 6.5% ABV and can be purchased throughout Victory’s 37 state distribution footprint for a suggested retail price of $9.99 for a 6-pack of 12 oz. bottles or cans.

Vital IPA is a unique IPA that falls into a category of its own. It was conceived when the brewers at Victory found themselves yearning for a different kind of IPA–one that finished with the refreshment of a Pilsner. As German-trained lager brewers, Victory’s brewers combined their European training with the brewery’s overarching thirst for American creativity to create an IPA that stands out for its pilsner malt base, extremely dry fermentation, filtered clarity and aromatically intense American dry hop profile over a bitter, quenching finish. Pilsner brewing requires a certain thoughtfulness that the Vital IPA brewing process replicates in the malt bill, hop schedule and fermentation temperature. Another Vital IPA distinction is its incorporation of a very unique ale-yeast strain, the Kolsch yeast native to Köln, Germany, that is not utilized in a similar fashion by any other craft brewers.

“Vital IPA begins as an IPA and finishes as a Pilsner, providing an entirely unique flavor experience. We wanted to make an IPA that was crisp, refreshing and a real cooler beer. Something you reach for on a hike, at a concert or at the beach,” said Victory founder and brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “Be it on draft, in a can or a bottle, we want this beer to be Vital to Where You Are.”

Victory Brewing is re-releasing two fan favorites

Press Release: Victory Brewing Company (Victory) announces the long-awaited return of Kirsch Gose, their refreshingly imaginative cherry fruit session ale and Sour Monkey, their sharp twist on their Belgian-style Tripel, Golden Monkey. Sweet, tart, salty and refreshing, Kirsch Gose incorporates natural tart cherry juice with a classic German-style gose while Sour Monkey incorporates multiple fermentations via three different yeasts to create an exhilarating flavor combination. The introductions of Kirsch Gose and Sour Monkey last year made waves in the craft beer world when both existing sour beer lovers and newcomers to the style embraced the new seasonals. The new brews quickly became sought after, in demand warm weather beverages.

Kirsch Gose was a new release for Victory in 2015 and their first bottled gose. The reaction from fans and critics was immediate and the limited release remained highly coveted throughout the summer and into the fall. Receiving 91 points from Wine Enthusiast, Kirsch Gose was described as “lively, bright and extremely effervescent …with raging acidity and a hint of salinity holding onto the finish.” With its sharp, slightly sweet cherry flavors against flavorful briny notes, the brew is a modern twist on a traditional German style that dates back to the 1500s. Victory pays further homage to gose’s German roots by using the German word for cherry, aka ‘kirsch’, right on the label of its beloved standout seasonal. The kirsch adds a sweet element that creates a pleasantly sharp balance of flavors. Featuring a variety of wheat malts, Czech-grown Saaz hops and natural cherry juice from King Orchards of Michigan, Kirsch Gose creates a distinctly bracing, light-bodied beer with an ABV of 4.7%.

Sour Monkey is also returning for year two. The sour, Brettanomyces-infused Tripel is a transformation of Victory’s beloved and GABF Gold Medal award-winning brew, Golden Monkey. Sour Monkey combines juicy Tettnang and Hallertrau whole flower hops with Pilsner malt and coriander seed before adding the fun and funk of non-standard yeast varieties. These yeasts are known for their volatility and are often left out of the brewing process due to their hard to control nature. However, the brewers at Victory have harnessed the power of the yeast with a unique recipe, fermentation control, and final blending within the brewing process, to create exciting, savory nuances. With an ABV of 9.5%, Sour Monkey delivers a punch with the pure taste of Victory.

Available April 1 throughout Victory’s 37 state distribution footprint, Kirsch Gose’s suggested retail price for a 12 oz. four-pack is approximately $9.99, but varies upon location and is also available on draft. Sour Monkey will be available July 1 in 750 ml bottles and the suggested retail price is approximately $9.00 and is also available on draft. Use Victory’s Beerfinder to discover a nearby location, or download the free Victory Mobile app for Android or iPhone.

“We’re thrilled to bring back Kirsch Gose and Sour Monkey. We thought we had created two uniquely delicious ales and the customer response loudly echoed our belief,” said Victory’s Founder and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski.

Victory Brewing introduces the Blackboard Series of beers

Press Release: Victory Brewing Company (Victory) announces the launch of its Blackboard Series, four adventurous and deliciously distinctive beers brewed with fresh ingredients that are a creative craft riff on restaurant blackboard specials. The annual series includes a new creation every three months alternating between bottle and draft only releases. Much like restaurant blackboard specials are used to entice loyal patrons to veer off menu and try something interesting and new with market-fresh produce so does the Victory Blackboard Series.

The first special in the series, Agave IPA with Grapefruit, was released on January 1, 2016 and is brewed with four variations of American hops that juxtapose strong and bitter aromas against agave and grapefruit additions to create a light, citric bite. The ale is fresh, crisp and bracing, reminiscent of a ripe, ruby red grapefruit. The sweet agave syrup provides a perfect foil to the tartness of the grapefruit resulting in a juicy winter fruit beer. Agave IPA with Grapefruit is available from January through March and can be purchased throughout Victory’s 37-state distribution footprint for a suggested retail price of $9.99 for a 4-pack of 12 oz. bottles. Pricing will vary slightly based upon location. Use Victory’s Beerfinder to discover a nearby location, or download the free Victory Mobile app for Android or iPhone.

The second beer of the series is certain to excite the funky and wild ambitions side of many craft beer fans. The Dry-Hopped Brett Pils will be available on draft from April to June 2016. The third offering, a Berliner Weisse with Elderflower, will be sold in 12 oz. bottles. The final introduction of the series is an Oatmeal Porter with Hazelnut in a draft format.

“We developed the idea for this series while witnessing the popularity of the daily menu additions in our brewpubs. Using super fresh, seasonal ingredients as the driving force of our Blackboard Series we welcome January and it’s bounty of enticing grapefruits,” said Victory’s President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “The goal of the Blackboard Series is to be flexible, adaptable and diverse while maintaining our high standard for quality. Much like our talented chefs make menu changes, we followed suit to bring ‘specials’ to our fans from the blackboard to the bottle or tap.”

Whirlwind, the popular Belgian-style wheat ale favorite, makes a cameo with an initial gust of spicy, seasonable crispness and has a 5.1% ABV. The name says it all in Summer Love Ale, a delicious blend of pale malt and German hops that embrace all the magical things summer has to offer with an ABV of 5.2%. Lastly, Prima Pils rounds out the final strategic summertime Victory selection with its low 5.3% ABV and refreshing approachability and crisp flavor.

Victory Brewing’s Sour Monkey headed to Florida

Press Release:

Victory Brewing Company (Victory) announces another first with the introduction of Sour Monkey, a deliciously puckering Belgian-style Tripel incorporating multiple fermentations via three different yeasts. Swinging from the same tree as its GABF Gold Medal award-winning cousin, Golden Monkey this deliciously sharp brew commands respect.

A result of the visionary enthusiasm of Victory Brewing Company’s brewers, Sour Monkey playfully tantalizes taste buds into a electrified frenzy by combining juicy Tettnang and Hallertrau whole flower hops with Pilsner malt and coriander seed before bringing in the fun and the funk of unique yeast varieties. With an ABV of 9.5%, Sour Monkey delivers a punch with the pure taste of Victory.

Available throughout Victory’s 36 state distribution footprint, Sour Monkey’s suggested retail price for a 750 ml bottle is approximately $9.00, but varies upon location. Use Victory’s Beerfinder to discover a nearby location, or download the free Victory Mobile app for Android or iPhone.

Rapidly rising in popularity within the craft beer market, sour ales fully leverage the different and sometimes temperamental fermentation patterns of non-standard yeasts like Brettanomyces and Lactobacillus. These yeasts are often treated like the unwanted guest at the brewing party due to volatility and lack of control they tend to bring. Depending on the recipe, fermentation control, and final blending within the brewing process, the results can lend themselves to exciting, savory nuances, which, by comparison, may be lacking in other craft beers.

“We’ve been researching and wanting to create a brew like Sour Monkey for a very long time, ” said Victory’s President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “We feel a beer like this, putting an enormous twist on one of our most beloved brands, will open up another level of appreciation for the art of craft beer. We are really excited to share this unique brew with our fans and hope they are as proud to drink it as we are to have made it.”

Victory Brewing to send next installment of Moving Parts Series

Press Release:

Victory Brewing Company Launches Third Edition of the Ever-Evolving IPA Series

Victory Brewing Company (Victory) announces Moving Parts 03, the latest edition in the Moving Parts series, now on shelves nationally. By definition, a series is a number of things or events related that happen one after the other and involve the same group of character or subjects. Evolution is the gradual development of something from simple to complex. Thus, Victory started on their exciting, challenging and artistic journey to take fans from simple to complex and back again using water, yeast, whole flower hops and grain as their mediums of choice to produce the Moving Parts: The Ever-Evolving IPA Series.

For Moving Parts 03, the Victory brewers use Belgian yeast (as opposed to 02’s English) to create a tart, fruity spin on a spicy and citrus-forward IPA. The result is a bracing, flavorful and delectably drinkable caramel-hued brew. By blending, modifying and adjusting the levels of different whole flower hop varieties, malts or yeasts and differing the fermentation and brewing process, Victory triumphantly leads the charge to a distinctly unique beverage experience with each Moving Parts batch. Every new brew in the series is exponentially different tasting than the last and demonstrating flavorful evolution.

The brewery created this series as a way to show the evolving nature of the industry they have been a leader of since 1996. Moving Parts is also a tangible result of the artistic nature of craft beer brewing. Victory brewers strive to lead craft beer fans on their own journeys of exploration. Through a thorough understanding of beer nuances, Victory has been able push forward and continually experiment and challenge themselves with new recipes. Moving Parts 03 will be sold in 22 oz. bottles and on draft with an ABV of 7.1%.

Available at craft beer bars, bottle shops, beer distributors and major gourmet grocery stores throughout Victory’s 35 state distribution footprint. Moving Parts 03 suggested retail price for a 22 oz. bottle is approximately $4.99, but varies upon location. Use Victory’s Beerfinder to discover a nearby location, or download the free Victory Mobile app for Android or iPhone.

“Our greatest victory is creating great beer that our fans love. Moving Parts allows us to do just that while sharing our creative experiences and continually growing the knowledge of craft beer and its process with them,” said Victory’s President and Brewmaster, Bill Covaleski. “Our fans reap the benefits of our experimentation and embrace of inspirational challenges. This series celebrates what I learned long ago, and that is if it’s not a challenge – it’s not worth doing.”
