Sports partnerships continue to grow in Florida. From the partnership between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cigar City Brewing to the Lakeland Magic partnering with Ivanhoe Park Brewing Company to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp combining forces with Intuition Ale Works, now the Orlando Magic has announced a partnership with Winter Garden-based Crooked Can Brewing Company.
The beer the team brewed with Crooked Can Brewing is named “The Sixth Man” in honor of the Orlando Magic’s fans. The team retired the number six jersey in honor of their fans; Alan says it seemed fitting to make a beer for all Orlando Magic fans, no
matter where they’re cheering from. “We decided to make a beer that was accessible to everyone,” Alan says. “we love lagers, and like opening a cold beer to watch the Magic play, if the beer was going to have ‘The Sixth Man’ brand, then it needed to have
drinkability for the masses.”
“As the hometown beer of Orlando, we could not be more pleased to partner with the hometown team,” said Crooked Can Brewing Company Founder Andy Sheeter. “We are looking forward to a successful season and a long-lasting partnership.”
The debut of Sixth Man Lager as the Magic’s co-branded beer highlights the mutual commitment of these two Central Florida landmarks to engaging their fan bases in innovative ways.
The Sixth Man Lager will be available throughout Crooked Can Brewing’s distribution footprint. The beer was initially rolled out at the brewery and the Kia Center, and Alan says that they wanted a beer that any Magic fan could drink wherever they were, drink it, and enjoy watching the team play. The beer is currently available in “20 Publix stores, with more coming online by the day, Total Wine, ABC, local sports bars, and more.”
What else is in store for this partnership? Alan says that this is a 5-year deal between Crooked Can Brewing and the Orlando Magic, and the partnership is in its infancy. “We hope for success for both of us in the partnership,” Alan concluded.
