First Magnitude Brewing celebrates Tom Petty with Petty-themed beer release

Gainesville’s First Magnitude Brewing Company is celebrating Tom Petty’s birthday by releasing three Petty-themed beers on Friday, October 13th. Petty, one of Gainesville’s native sons, was born on October October 20th, 1950.

Join us on Saturday October 14th for Don’t Brew Me Like That and indulge in our special Petty-themed beers, from the archives, while swaying to some live, local acoustic acts Austin Brockner, Maggie Clifford and Hannah Harber on our stage from 7:00-10:30 pm. 🎸

First Magnitude Brewing - Tom Petty Beer ReleasesYOU DON’T KNOW HOW IT PEELS Citrus IPA 6.5% ABV
Let’s get to the point: this modern take on an American IPA has plenty of citrus and tropical fruit hop character that gets a significant boost from a generous dose of grapefruit and orange zest. The soft malt character provides a perfect platform for all of these flavors to shine through. We think you will know how it feels when you enjoy this one!

WON’T BOCK DOWN – Helles Bock Lager – 6.6% ABV
There ain’t no easy way out, but it’s real easy to enjoy this German-style lager that features authentic German hops and malt. The spicy-herbal hop character is supported with a slightly sweet blend of pilsner malts. This crisp, refreshing beer has a dry finish that will have you willing to stand up at the gates of hell to order another!

LEARNING TO RYE – Rye IPA with Citra + Nelson – 6.3% ABV
This pale gold IPA features Citra and Nelson Sauvin hops. A lush, exotic bouquet of juicy stone fruits, white grapes, and passion fruit intermingle with a subtle spicy rye malt character. This beer is as unique as Gainesville’s native son.

We know that waiting is the hardest part, so we’ll be releasing these a day early, on Friday! Available on in cans to-go, and on draft Friday 10/13 starting at 2:00 PM. 🍻
